Just finished another terrific seminar. The primers did a wonderful job of practicing Sat. evening, and were much improved by Sun. morning’s class. By the afternoon, they knew what to work on, and were doing so diligently. In the "No Sevens" contest, a woman again won, "The Librarian"! Women have have won the most frequently since we started!
I hope everyone will keep us posted here regarding how they are doing. This is also a great forum to ask questions, and you can always e-mail any one of us. Please remember to use the 5 count when betting.
It was a very enjoyable weekend, and I hope to see the students back in refresher and advance classes.

Thank you to Dom, Goddess and the rest of his crew, Midnight, Sandman, Doc and Rose, MO Rick, Nick@night. Of course we can’t forget to mention NFF and BTK for their work with the Advanced crew. Forgot to mention Glue Factory and, also, welcome Mr Pip.
Now it’s back to work where I can get some rest. Haha

Thanks to Dominic and all the instructors for your guidance and patience and dedication to teaching us how to become and advantage player.
I am going to follow to the best I can remember, to do it the GTC way.
I wish that we had more time to practice the live betting (5 count and come betting) at the practice table. I am still a little fuzzy on that part.
See you all at the refresher

Thank you MistaBone for the kind words!
Please tell us what part of the 5-count you don’t yet fully understand?

I just need more practice and feed back to be sure I am doing it right.
On the come betting, why I am doing that instead of place bets?, and when do I get paid and when do I loose.
Is it best to use come betting? (Does that give me an advatage when I am the shooter or can I use place bets??
I like the fact that I can take down a place bet if I think its time.
I am practiceing at home throwing and betting several hours a day.
I intend to always use the 5 count and come betting I just want to be sure I am doing it correctly

I called to put a deposit on the refresher class and ended up talking with Dom. Always a pleasure and always helpful. I want to follow the direction set at the seminar and the advice from the instructors from the Seminar in AC. Well, following the seminar I decided to scrap any work I had done prior and start from scratch with what I had been taught. I hadn’t been pleased with the practice throws I was making and Dom suggested I work on the grip. Just the grip. Practice picking the dice up, checking that my fingers were straight across and evenly centered on the dice. My middle finger and thumb evenly on both dice, with no separation of the dice. Then set them down. I started carrying the dice with me. When I have a free minute during the day I pull the dice out of my pocket and practice picking them up, while standing, and checking the grip. It feels pretty good to me, but I find I’m having to make small adjustments to get them just right. maybe they’re separating a little bit or my finger isn’t exactly centered. Perhaps this is the purpose of this type of practice? To make the grip natural, so I don’t even have to think about it. Or will I have to continue to make these small adjustments every time I pick the dice up?

I was in this most recent class as a 2nd Refresher. I was feeling pretty good about my toss, as a whole, but some of the instructors found that I was rolling my wrist. My dice were not staying level at release. After the seminar, back on my home field, I was taking to combat this rolling of my wrist. I had a rough couple of days. Making one adjustment was causing bad habits to resurface. The brain can only process so many variables at one moment and I was overloaded. It took those couple of sessions to allow my brain and muscles to get into sync with the corrections I was trying to make.
Your grip will improve with practice, your overall toss should get better too over time. I am a way better thrower than I was this time last year. I can be impatient, too, and wanting to get at it was the first thing I wanted to do after my Primer course. My best advice, give it a little time and practice, we all had to walk before we could run.

The difference between us advantage players:
The casino have a mathematical edge, vig, advantage or what ever you want to call it. They simply have this advantage on each and every throw of the dice. No practice it is just there for them.l
We have to create, with practice and betting, an advantage slightly bigger that the casino’s math advantage to win. It is hard work and the hard work never goes away. Come to a GTC weekend and
we will welcome the opportunity to work with you.l
With that in mind, keep up the good work and continue to move forward. The wins will come.

Prior to the October 18 seminar in AC I had invested in 2 of the books put out by GTC, and subscribed to the newsletter, which gave me an additional 2 books that I downloaded. I was convinced of the need to practice and began doing so. I also did not record or log each throw and tried to space them out over time. I practiced most of the summer, when I could. Early morning, when I came home from work and in the evenings. Of the throws I logged, there were 4,345 rolls, 764 7’s. The SRR I believe works out to 1:5.69. Which is worse than a random roller.
I realized I must be doing it wrong which is why I attended the seminar in AC. I appreciate the work we did there, and the advice from the instructors. I am trying to implement the all of the suggestions that were made. I am trying to keep much the same schedule, although keeping the length of the practice sessions short, as has been suggested here as well as in AC.
My first few practices after AC have been disappointing. Even with the posture and mechanics that I learned in AC, I don’t seem to be doing any better. Admittedly There have not been anywhere close to 5,000 rolls yet. I am willing to be somewhat patient and keep working at it. I have added the suggestion from Dom that I carry a pair of dice with me and continually work on my grip as I have time during the day as well as during my practice times.
I am planning on taking a refresher class, which is why I called Dom last week. I am obviously still having problems with my mechanics.
I promised myself a couple things when I decided to get serious about making money with this: 1) I promised that I would be honest with myself when it comes to how good my rolls really are. It was easy for me, if I had a good night at the casino to convince myself that I am better than I really am, 2)I promised that I would be honest with myself when it comes to wins and losses. Again is easy to tell myself that the money is better than the reality. I had a night on a cruise ship winning $1,000. This was a rare exception, and truth is there have been many more nights where I dropped $300-$600 at a time. I never talked about those times. So I promised, at least for my self I would keep an accurate record of wins and losses. Finally, and based on what was said at the seminar, as well as on this blog in others’ posts, 3)I believe you all want me to be accountable on here for my progress, good or bad, and what my results are. I am trying to do that, and I take each suggestion and recommendation to heart. The bottom line for me is that I would like to consistently take home money from the casinos when I go and avoid the losses. Getting the SRR to where I have an advantage makes the most sense to me that it’s the best way to accomplish that. Prior to reading any of the books or any input from GTC, I had been using, what I believe I since have read to be a ice tong grip and throw. I had more success with this at the casinos, and is the throw that produced all of my larger wins. So far I have been unable to achieve any kind of consistency in my results from the GTC grip and throw. I am still a work in progress and am keeping up my practice routine to try to make it work. I do believe that once I can get it down, it will provide more consistently positive results, with fewer losing sessions. I already am implementing the betting strategies from the seminar and I can see how that is reducing the amount of losses on my losing sessions.

Being honest with yourself is important and I am glad you are now keeping records. I am also happy that the last sentence in your response was abut implementing our betting strategies. As I was reading the response I was wondering if that would ever be brought up. I am glad you did.
Your talk about a tong grip – I hope you realize that holding an object in that manner is not the way to throw any moving projectile. Think about it – if you could throw anything with that type of grip, pitchers in baseball would use it for some of their throws, basketball players would use it for their shots, quarterbacks would use it to throw a football. NOT! Why do these athletes throw off their finger tips? Because if you do a google search on the physics of a moving projectile and what it takes to be accurate with it you need to create a fulcrum for the object.
So I would say, and this goes back to record keeping, you remember the good money making rolls and tend to forget the bad losing money rolls. The roll you had on a cruise ship should actually be put aside since every table I have ever played on a cruise is very bouncy and any profits made from a roll on them had a lot of LUCK involved not matter how you threw the dice.
So the GTC grip is all based in the physics of any throw and to get where you all want to get to that is how you should throw the dice. Remember that this isn’t easy and sometimes you have to take 5 steps backwards to get 10 steps forward.

The thing to remember is your betting. Use the 5-count on all random rollers with comebets. If you want, also use the 5-count on yourself and of course be a come bettor. You are not playing with an edge yet so keep the house edge low with come bets and the 5-count.
Remember that to win more money you have to learn to lose less money
Keep it up!

Just a quick update.
So I’ve been tracking my rolls now since the seminar in October. I’ve also been tracking my wins/losses since before then.
I still have a ways to go to get to 5,000 logged rolls. I go through stretches in my practice session when the "7" rears its ugly head way too much, and other times I can go 15-20 rolls without one. At the casinos I am working on making sure my throws are straight and the dice are properly positioned at the point of release. I am also very conscious of my grip, making sure my fingers are straight and my grip is loose. I have kept my visits to the casinos fairly short, although extending them a bit more lately. One thing with my practice sessions. I practice nearly every day, but have slowed lately because I have developed some pain in my shoulder and elbow. I believe from throwing the dice. I have tried to rest it and slow down over the holidays. I talked with my doctor who told me I have "tennis elbow" and suggested one of the elastic wraps they make for that condition. I purchased it at the local Walgreens, and it really helps stabilizing the elbow and I am throwing better while using it. I wore it at the casino last time I went and they didn’t seem to have a problem with it.
As for my trips to the casinos. I find the use of come betting and utilizing the 5 count extremely helpful in maintaining chips in my rack until it is time for me to shoot. The casinos require that I have action on the shooter before me, and I will either place a "pass line" bet on that shooter, using the 5 count before placing any odds. Or I wait until they have established their point and place a come bet. It is amazing how often I get out with a win on the come when doing this while the rest of the table is upset over losing all their place bets, placed when the point is established. Of course other times, and even using the 5 count, I place a bet, with odds and the shooter 7’s right after. But overall, betting using come bets and the 5 count has saved my bankroll a great deal of cash!
The really good news is that I am getting better! I have been buying in for $300 at the start of each session. I have won 7 of the last 8 times out. They are not large amounts of money, but it all adds up. I have won anywhere from about $60 on up to my latest outing winning $344. When I do lose the amounts are smaller, making it easier to recover from a bad outing. This is exactly what I had hoped to get out of the seminar. Having consistently winning sessions! Thank you to Golden Touch Craps: Dom and all the instructors!
