Early Father's Day Gift (A custom Rail for orgin throw Sta)

Spread the love

The rail on my old throwing station was really worn out. I spoke to my daughter and her boyfriend who works with wood that it would be nice to have a casino chip rail to replace it with and they surprised me with a replacement rail for father’s day. This throwing station was one of the original throwing station. The rail was retro-fitted perfectly where old one was. I am enclosing some pics. Mr. Finesse would be proud, as I believe Dom told me it was one of the first he designed for the class. I was surprised that the boyfriend never walked into a casino and used my casual specs of how I wanted it re-designed, here is a pic of the result the edges were finished with a wood called Bubinga .

Wow that looks GREAT . Never heard of that wood but it looks great .Wish he was around when I was making my table for a little help .
You should ask him if he could make you a full size table it looks like he has a lot of talent with wood not like myself .
If he ever comes to PHOENIX have him stop by to fix mine . πŸ˜€
That is a great gift .I know you will enjoy it for Years .
I built a 12 ft. table since it takes 3 sheets of plywood ,with vary little cuts .
Good Rolling. πŸ˜€ πŸ™‚

Lol, thanks I will tell him. Although he got this design correct, I think making a table is big undertaking for someone that knows nothing about craps, leave that for an expert like Dom.

If you look at old post (TABLE ) You will find Pics for table that I built . I am no wood worker but have played craps for some time .It did take some time to build . I paid for it as I built it . I also got some advise from guys on this site along with encouragement . Which helped a lot .
My rails did not turn out as good as yours for one thing but have had lots of FUN playing and have a few casino nights . Which makes for a good time to give away some of the free offers that we get . πŸ˜€
By the way I looked up that wood it is about 25.00 a board foot just to let you know .
Also the tables that Dom sell are the top of the line . Which I can not even think about asking the wife about . πŸ˜€
I am a LOWRoller and made a low cost table for fun . πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€
Good Rolling.

Looks great!

Actually I built a desk out of Bubinga many years ago that I still have and use. It is an extremely hard wood in a beautiful red. Every nail and screw that I used had to be pre-drilled completely. I still have and use that wood.

Would you mind sending those pics to dom@goldentouchcraps.com

thanks Mr Pip

Doc thought he has pretty inventive when he took a GTC standard throwing station that he bought and installed a second "padded throwing rail" on the other side of the throwing station so we wouldn’t have to keep turning it around for Rose (a lefty) every time she wanted to practice.

Your idea is absolutely brilliant.

Ideas like this from students are what make GTC so much fun.

Doc,
You are right. A two sided throwing station makes practice sessions run much smoother. Combine the ideas and you will have a great throwing station.

NR.

Hope for a speedy recovery. For a DC, Its never easy on the tables after an injury or surgery on any part of your body, but with time you should be back on track.
