Off on The Come Out – Must read and see the math by Skinny!

Hello GTC, I was just curious to know about the casino’s rules when it comes to the come out roll. Has anyone ever experienced anyone trying to take their bets off on the come out roll after a point was hit? What is the rule if someone does not want their bets working after a point was made. I am talking about having come bets on the numbers with odds? I can only assume that the casino’s won’t allow it since a next shot seven would wipe out the come bets. Am I correct on this assumption? Any feedback would be helpful.

Yes, You are right the flat portion of come bets are working, but usually the odds are not working unless you tell the dealers to work your odds. Place bets are off also like the odds.

I saw someone try at a strip casino once. Funny argument.
Come bets are a contract bet and the flat portion cannot be taken down. I believe that a put is the same; flat can’t be taken down.

Thanks for clearing that up.

I don’t come bet on myself. Why? Because I set for 7’s on the come out.I am throwing a 7 a little over 50% of the time on the comeout. If you come bet just play a $3 hop 7’s and that covers up to 3 come bets, bet $6 if you have 4 or more come bets up. This is assuming a $5 table. $10 minimum tables double up. If I am the shooter I don’t change for YOU.

Well ……..

House edge on passline bet = 1.47%
House edge on any 7’s bet = 16.67%

House edge on comebets with 2X odds = .61%
3X odds = .47%
5X odds = .33%
Place bet on the 6/8 = 1.52%
Place bet on the 5/9 = 4%

So by looking at the house edge against the player, I don’t think I need to say what bets you should make when you or anyone else is shooting the dice.

If you want to set for he 7 do that on your first comeout roll, after you make the point use your point cycle set on the comebet. Why would anyone want to make a bet that carries a 16.67% against you even if you can hit the 7 50% of the time?

Remember people:
"If you want to win more money you MUST learn how to lose less money"
as Billy and I say in our seminar on betting.

Remember also that you need a SRR of 6.23 to have an edge over the casino if you place the 6/8 – that is a edge that is greater than 1.52% which is the casino’s edge. Maybe Skinny can weigh in here and give us the SRR that you need to have an edge over the casino if you are a come bettor taking 5X odds. Obviously though since the house edge on 5X odds is .33% and the place bet on the 6/8 is 1.52% it is much lower which means you don’t have to be that good at the controlled throw to gain an edge!

Until all of our students understand, believe, and play this way you will never make as much money as you can and you will always loose more money on your losing sessions.

As the saying goes – you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make them drink it

You only need to be slightly better than random to get an edge on the house if you are a come bettor taking 5X odds.

With a SRR of 6.0333 you would have a positive house edge of 0.0005%, essentially a break even game.

With an SRR of 6.04 you would have a positive house edge of 0.07%.

With an SRR of 7 you would have a huge advantage of 8.91% over the house.

🙂 Thank you so much Skinny for doing the math! I hope everyone on this site reads this post and sees your math. Just .04% better than a random throw makes you the casino’s worst nightmare!

If I could hit a primary face hit fifty percent of the time I would hop the hard ways coming out then move the hit to the all day hard ways and never be allowed to play in the casinos again!

Exactly BMan – that is the reason why using some of those crazy sets out there – "mmmm – I will set the 3/2 on top because I want to hit my point of 5" – just doesn’t make sense. You got to hit that primary to make that set work
