I will play on microfiber if the bounce is not overly bouncy. Not talking about those trampoline tables which should not be played ever.
My local casino resurfaced some of the tables and there is now a soft underlay beneath the micro.A DI friend told me he had a tough outing where the sharp edges of the dice caught on the underlay creating not true tracking to the back wall.I played that evening and saw for myself the new conditions.I decided to use a low soft UH toss landing 22" from the BW and the die seemed to glide to the back wall true resulting in a 2-5" rebound die side by side.Result a 25 roll 5 point hand which I will take everyday. On a run having 4 thirty roll hands and two mid twenty roll efforts so far this year. Going back this week hope it continues.

Do you normally throw from SL? If so, did you throw throw UH from SR? Just curious.
Catch you later!

I shoot OH from SL1 and shoot UH from SR1& 2
Had trouble with my OH on Micro. One of the reasons why I started to use the UH which in my case is a 15- 20° trajectory landing around 22" from the BW. It tracks straight to the BW with minimal rebounds.

On micro tables you have to also be aware of the nap direction as laid on the table. This can have a major impact on your throw and weather you feel most comfortable throwing from SL or SR. Good Luck Today, it is a great day to throw. 😀 😀

Great point!

In other words, for right handed shooters on SL, does underhand means the fingers point away from the destination, and overhand means the same, the fingers point away from the destination from SR – at the start of the throw?
Also, how can you tell the direction of the nap on microfiber?

It’s like petting a dog or cat the wrong way. Some are not quite as evident, but lay your hand flat and run it back and forth length-wise on the micro. You should feel a difference between the two. With the grain is like petting head to tail, against the grain is like petting tail to head; you’ll feel more resistance.
This is part of Advanced along with learning the several adjustments that need to be made.

Never checked the micro surface. I use a 2 finger grip meaning middle and ring finger on each dice face , thumb on seam anchored with the fore and pinkie on the sides. l aunch from the table. and have a low easy toss . After touch down want the die to track straight to the back wall and rebound 1-5" from the back wall.I was one of the main posters on the …. for a number of years so it is not hard to figure who taught me this novel toss.

Why – because there is so many things wrong with an underhand toss, one of which is that the dice are rotating to the backwall creating even more energy versus backward rotation which actually will grab and slow down the energy.
I also edited part of the previous post naming another website. I will not have others being promoted on my site as stated in our terms.

So if the grain is toward the shooter ("against the grain") there will be too much braking for a backspin?
And much less braking if the grain is away from the shooter("with the grain") ?
What is the table surface that some casinos have, a surface that is very smooth and plastic-like?
7×7

Hence taking advanced and getting NFF & BTK expert training on the various adjustments that can be made. They have really made a difference. My home venue has multiple surfaces and playing conditions and it’s great to be able to make adjustments based on which table my spot opens up at or the next table being opened up.
On surfaces, agreed, I see a number of different micros and even some felts that appear to be micro at first look. Some have more bite than others.
Loving the journey!
