    My son, LTAmerica, just got promoted to Army Captain. I couldn’t be prouder. He’s in Arizona, and was selected to be made an Intelligence Agent, as well. The “Agent” part is difficult to explain, except that in addition to his officer rank, he also will have a federal badge and gun.

    When each of my sons joined the military, I told them to work hard, volunteer when no one else does, and obey orders but use your brain (after Vietnam, officers can’t just blindly obey orders). If an order is illegal, speak your objection on the record. If the order remains, then choose your career or your integrity. I also warned them that 2 things can end an otherwise successful military career: an incompetent Commanding Officer (who never seem to know they’re incompetent) or a bad President. The new CAPTAmerica has survived both with colors, hallelujah. Now he has excellent COs and a great POTUS.

    After a couple of years in the Army as a young Lt–I got out prior to being promoted to Captain–Your advice is right on. It is comforting to know we have someone watching our back 24/7.

    What can I say that hasn’t already been said. Your son was great in class – following our betting that his Dad didn’t do at first and proved to his Dad that our betting works 😀

    But important we have a brave young man as Doc said watching our backs!

    Thank you, everyone! I appreciate the congratulations!!

    I’ll be in AZ for another 5 months training to be a Counter Intelligence Agent. Then headed to Fort Bragg, NC. I hope to join you guys on a trip in the near future!!
