Does the 5 count work? Will it save you $$$?

Spread the love

The simple answer is a big yes. During the Vegas Class Doc ran a test to see how the results would have played out over a 7 day/6 night stay.

Here is what I did. Every time a shooter did not make the 5 count—that’s both random rollers and GTC rollers (there were obviously some of both) I slipped a $1 chip in my pocket. Yes there were a few who made a pay day before the 5 count was complete and I missed a pay day but not many. Played mostly $10 tables with and one $5 table. Always took $10 in odds after the 5 count was made so my average bet was about $20 on these shooters with the dice. I admit that if a GTC player made the five count I took more odds. But to keep it simple (even if very unscientific) let’s use the $20.

At the end of each session when I cashed in my chips, I would record how many rollers did not make the five count. Drum roll please–the total of shooters not making the 5 count was 53. Multiply 53 by $20 and the get a total of $1060. If you want to adjust this number by a few shooters who make a pay day during the 5 count the total may be a little lower but not much–remember all those shooters who did not make the 5 count and no paydays.

So guys and gals the 5 count is an excellent arrow in your quiver of tricks. It certainly saved Rose and I some money.

Doc

And yes we did bring back some of the casinos money.

Section, the answer is yes—we went to the food count for a Nathan’s hot dog!!!!! Just kidding as we actually ended up at the Voodoo Steak house at the Rio.

That is interesting Doc because mathematically the 5 count is known to eliminate 57% of the shooters.

It would be fascinating if in your small sample you found 53 who did not make the 5 count out of 100 players?

Well I know Doc that you and Janis do use the 5-count religiously, so this test was not to convince you but to have this ilistrated in a post.

I appreciate it!

I totally agree with the good Doctor and Section Eight. I absolutely use the 5-count on everyone. I can’t tell you the thousands of dollars I have saved over the years. Sometimes people, or dealers, will ask me if I am going to bet on the shooter. My answer also comes from GTC which is: "I always like to watch them shoot a bit before I bet." No more, questions and thousands of dollars in my pocket.

I started using the 5-count the first session after my Primer Class and saw how well it works. Yes I have missed some wins on the first 5 throws but in no way does it compare to the money I have saved.

GTC teaches us how to have an advantage. Proper betting is as important as your grip, throw and landing.

Another line that Billy the Kid uses when no one is making the 5-count at the table and the dealers say something is "The way this table is running I wouldn’t bet with YOUR money." Always gets a laugh!

When a player, dealer or stick man says something about not betting during the five count such as "you are a late better" my favorite line is "no I have not taken a class as it costs too much but I did buy a book and I probably paid too much. Buy it can’t hurt."

Rose always something like " my husband taught me to do this."

You can also use these statements if someone asks if we have taken a class.

For reference, I buy in for 600; 500 for me and 100 for everyone else.

This past weekend, a couple had reserved the spots next to me and bought in for 200. Dice started straight out SR, couple at SL 1 & 1.5, me at SL2. I 5 counted everyone, they were betting inside. Dice got to her as 5th shooter, and her 7 out emptied their rail. I still had $80 in my β€œother” rail and got to move to SL 1 for my roll!
