New to the Dice Controller World – Safe Betting

Spread the love

Hey everyone,

So I’m new to dice controlling and I plan on going to AC tonight. No, I’m not stupid enough to think i’ll be a pro Dice Controller after i have practiced for a week, but I do want to explain what I have been doing to try to get in the swing of things (no pun intended)

First off, after speaking with Dom, I have realized I should only play at certain casinos of the tables. So I’ll take his advice and go elsewhere in AC. However, that being said, I began researching what could be making that table as bouncy as it is. After a few hours i found out about PVC and XLPE padding. It helps to protect the craps surface from any liquids etc, while also being a nuisance to your dice controllers. So I went and began googling away at getting such a padding. Luckily Yoga Mats are also made of PVC so I looked at the standard width which is either 1/8 or 1/4" of padding and went out to target to buy the $20 yoga mat. Did some cutting and made one side of my table one way, and the other a standard plywood side with just the layout. Boy what a difference. I’ve realized that while throwing if my fingers are not just right, or i have too much speed on my throw on the bouncy side the randomization is HORRIFIC. That being said I have been rolling 10-11 times without 7’ing out. I don’t think that’s too shabby for a beginner. Just got to know when to turn off my bets. As for the other side, my throw has to be polar opposite in speed, angle, and direction. I feel more comfortable with throwing gently but i am not sure if its just because i am not used to it.

So after all this, I am wondering for those who play in AC, I pose the following questions:

1. Where do you prefer to play in AC?
2. Whats the minimum (Most of AC is 10/15 to my knowledge)?
3. What strategy do you implement most for the random shooter (5-Count?)
3a. What strategy do you use to build comps and extend the use of your bankroll (ie Buy in at $200, (yes that is a low buy in) but win/lose for 3 hours just to build comp – Obviously you can play Pass/Don’t at the same time and risk Odds on the result you think will happen which I’m sure can take you far enough)
4. For the new Dice Controller, what is your best advice you can give?

Thanks so much everyone!!

1. Where do you prefer to play in AC?

People should give you this information offline.

2. Whats the minimum (Most of AC is 10/15 to my knowledge)?

3. What strategy do you implement most for the random shooter (5-Count?)

Use the 5-count and then make a minimum pass line or come bet wager. Only make one wager on random shooters.

It is not a good idea to play for comps. An advantage player does better by betting on himself and optimizing his wins. Then he can afford to pay for anything he could have earned in comps with his own money. One can lose a lot more money trying to play for comps than the comps are worth.

DO NOT play the doey-don’t. You will lose less money on a random player with a minimum pass line or come bet than if you play the doey-don’t.

4. For the new Dice Controller, what is your best advice you can give?

Practice for at least 6 months. Do not go into a casino until you have developed a level of competency so that you will have an edge when you play. Build up your skill and 401G during that time period. The skill will give you confidence and the 401G will allow you to play without the pressure of financial concerns.

I expect you will not follow that advice given the questions you are asking. But I do know some players that did do this and they were very happy they did. They were very effective once they started playing. This is a journey that takes a lot of effort, time and patience.

If you insist on playing before you are proficient, I would recommend making minimum pass line and come bets on yourself with as much in odds and you can tolerate mentally and financially. Of course I have already said you should use the 5-count on everyone else.

The doey don’t system does not work for comps the casinos have fig. that out a long time ago . You get vary little in comps unless you tip and they like your play and your attitude at the table .It use to be the power of the pin but now it is the power of the delete button .
just remember that you do not have to bet on every roller . Bet how you feel about what is going on at the table . Your feeling may get you a long way . 😀
Good Rolling and welcome on this JOURNEY . 😀 😀

Implement the 5-count first and then later tell us how it went.
And don’t forget to especially implement the 5-count and YOURSELF.
You have to do the 5-count on ALL chicken feeders, remember.

Everyone,

Spent about 4 hours playing, won $50 on a $100 Buy in, so I’m pretty satisfied. I used the 5 count which worked sometimes and sometimes not. People were in absurd rolls tonight, random rollers going 25-30 rolls. I was able to spot the bad shooters who were throwing wrecklessly and put down 41 No 4 and that worked out for me a lot. When it was my turn to shoot I used the proper dice set but damn the bounce is a different kind of bounce than I simulated. Long story short after my short roll of about 3, the dice came around again, and knowing how unconfident I was but still wanting the practice I bet Don’t against myself which, turned out well for me, as I knew I wasn’t going to do well. Thanks for the advice and even though I walked with positive $50 which isn’t much, it was 50% of my original bankroll so walking with 150 isn’t too bad. I certainly will need lots of practice but I had a good time

Also something I’ve never seen, a drunk guy stumbles up to the table, clearly doesn’t understand the game and clearly intoxicated, all of a sudden places a HOP 4-2 and HITS. the boxman and I were stunned. Then Mr Drunk continues to place hop bets and the box man and I kept laughing because at one point this kid put $25 on a hop bet, and loses. Shocker. Then staying true to his drunk form says HOP the 8-2, and the Asian stickman Clearly done with this guy screams, are you stupid there are 6 sides on a die, where do you see 8?! I thought the stickman was going to smack him. Ah the game of Craps…

Hello TVP

I have edited your post because I guess you didn’t read how to post. We don’t mention casinos on this site.

Skinny’s response to your post is right on. It should be read and then re-read again and again if anyone wants to make money at this game

TVProducer, welcome to the fun and exciting world of craps. That has been my experience. I am relatively new, as well. First, it was very smart of you to ask advice, and, second, this forum is attended indisputably by the best craps players alive. Keep in mind, many of them (most?) hail from the northeast, and Dom, specifically from New York, so their advice will be short and brutally honest. I’m a Southerner by birth and breeding, so I can appreciate a bit of social grace, but have found such things totally absent from Nor’easters. Ha. So, don’t take any criticism personally. Any advice given you on this forum will be done with the purpose of making you a great craps player.

That said, my personal experience was that I learned a lot from going to the casino before I was ready. The benefit of my practice sessions was tremendously improved by my losing experiences at the casino. Yes, it cost me money – much more than the cost of the GTC seminar weekends, which, of course, I highly recommend. But from my failures, I learned to appreciate what is taught by GTC – to a higher degree than I might have without those painful experiences.

But, keep in mind that, while experience can be the best teacher, it is always the hardest and most expensive teacher.

One more thing – you mentioned the tables had a crazy bounce totally different from your home setup of a 1) hard and 2) bouncy bed. At several casinos recently, I have encountered a layout (craps table bedding) that does not have the cell filled foam layer, but does have a new thicker material over the wood. This material is not wool felt. It’s thicker, feeling like jeans, and sometimes with a somewhat rubberized spray over it, feeling like suede leather. The result is a soft bounce, making short throws disastrous. It also changes the arc after the dice hits. Maybe that is what you encountered.

Again, welcome to a great journey.
