Trip Report – WHAT A LONG WEEKEND!!!

Spread the love

What an amazing weekend several of us just had. Apologies to my friends for missing any details, please edit, but here are some highlights.

Scooter and I had a flight to catch, but stopped at a new venue for me for a little warm up… a few times around the table and we’ve added a dozen Ben’s between us, so we head catch to our planes with quite wide sh**-eating grins on our faces.

Upon arriving at our destination hotel, we have a bit of a line to check in, so I go give my Casino Son (BigDaddy-Revs) and LuckBeALady hugs and kisses. We finish check-in, and head to the table for a quick test session as TenMan joins us, go up to the room to discuss plans, and have dinner together. We head back to the table, get a test round in and two of us get dialed in. First good (GREAT) hand was my 50 roll hand with, after 3 come out devils right after making first three points over 24 rolls, continued to tear it up with an All-Tall-Small, hitting 11 6’s, 8 8’s and a healthy portion of 4/10 throughout. Next up was Scooter who got to about 30, hitting a nice 5 point fire. A VERY successful round 1.

Day 2 started with a short session on different tables, losing a little, then head to venue 2 to recover a bit, running into some other GTC family, then tried out venue 3, but losing. BDR had to head home at this point. At venue 2 & 3 and later back at venue 2, this guy who is apparently known as Walking Dead Ed keeps walking up to our table laying the 4 and winning…. very frustrating, so we head to venue 4 with mixed results. We hit venue 5, no tables available, but I needed to play something to get my collector chip, so we hit some 3 card poker, Scooter up a Ben, others about even. We head back to venue 2 and Scooter rips a 30 and 25 back to back for a bit of a recovery before we hit venue 6 for a minor loss.

Day 3 opens at venue 6, different table, and we’re back in the zone for a good win. We want to meet up with others at venue 2, but it was not a good move. Back on the down side for a session, but a later session brings me back to even. Scooter was in bad, bad shape, but this guy says "bet the fire, I’m going to hit it". Scooter says eh, the guy throws a seven, but Scooter throws down a nickel before the guy goes on a tear and hits a 5 pointer, getting him back in the black. We end the day in OK shape, but TenMan had to exit early due to illness in the family.

Day 4 opens with wanting to throw one last time at venue 1 but different (worse) tables, I decided to shoot from SR2 next to Scooter and just do min bets to loosen up. We waited a bit of time for a guy who shot for a bit, then the dice worked their way around to this woman straight out SR eating a Turkey sandwich; Scooter talks to her about her turkey sandwich breakfast lightening the mood. We throw out 1, 1, 1 on the ATS and she decides to wing the dice at least in the high 20’s with a good number of 4/10 on the way to nailing the ATS. Hitting that gets us nicely in the black to start so we walk to venue 7 so I can get a chip. We get some chips after the shooter hits a point, and start with some min bets on a couple of 4/10 come bets with single then extra odds, some 6/8 action that turn a Ben’s worth of profit, so I pocket a chip and we head out without shooting so that we can meet up with LuckBeALady at venue 4, but it’s really humid and the dice are sticking like crazy. Not a good session, so we head to venue 2 as they open a table and we meet back up with almost a table full of family. 2 decent rolls from straight out and Scooter and I had to head out to fly home on our first down day of the trip.

Overall an absolute blast as this was my first truly profitable trip. Lots of orange, purple and black in our hands, a first at this level for me. I do want to thank everyone who’s helped along the way, but the last 18 months after Shreveport and the Advanced in LV last year have really brought my game around. Daryl and BTK at both of those, along with mentor Midnight in SBC and the other instructors who are ALWAYS around to watch a throw and give some tweaking advice if needed.

I LOVE ADVANTAGE PLAY CRAPS!!!!!

Way to go Hardnine! I totally agree about NFF and BTK and the awesome job they do with Video Elite and Advanced Training. I saw a pic of the Purple and Blacks that Scooter sent me. Very impressive.

Hope to hook up with you again in the future and see a repeat of your weekend.

Take care.

NFF, The change you made to my throw in SBC really did wonders to some stability in my shot. Then the refinement last Aug really got me there. Hitting 25s relatively often, but also longer average rolls and killing box numbers (except for my ace-deuces). The work in advanced on noticing table conditions has really helped too. My home casino changes felt relatively often and has at least 3 different fabrics in play. The most recent required a much flatter and low rev shot. Once I caught that and adjusted, I’ve been doing really well on it. That also played a big role in our success this weekend.

You guys (and gals) all rock! I still use a hint Alligator Rose gave me at that same SBC open house when my dice start kicking left.

I love this family!
