    This Memorial Day remember It is the Soldier

    It is the Soldier, not the minister
    Who has given us freedom of religion.

    It is The Soldier, not the reporter,
    Who has given us Freedom of the press.

    It is The Soldier, not the poet,
    Who has given us Freedom of speech.

    It is The Soldier, not the campus organizer,
    Who has given us Freedom to demonstrate.

    It is The Soldier, not the lawyer,
    Who has given us the right to a fair trial.

    It is the Soldier, not the politician
    Who has given us the right to vote.

    It is The Soldier who salutes the flag,
    Who serves beneath the flag and
    Whose coffin is draped by the flag
    Who allows the protester to burn the flag.

    Thank You Again for this .It brought tears to me in thinking about my first day on hill 55 . It was a nice day after it had rained most of the night and had a condition that there may be incoming . So I got wet like most others that did not have rain gear yet .This brought the memory of going out on patrol .Only that day before I got to the barbed wire that we were going threw 12 Marines were brought back wounded . That first day in Nam I will never forget or some of the others .
