I do not believe that it is the best because when they are so close to each other they have a tendancey to bump each other off axis, i preffer mine to be about a inch apart.

Remember this the farther apart they are the more of an angle they are hitting the wall with.

The only time that Doc can make sure the dice will land side by side is when he demonstrates his throw in class and uses dice that are glued together. Only problem is that it is illegal to use in the casinos. 🙂 🙂 However with that said, I do like to have the dice be about the same distance from the back wall when they stop and not be too far apart.
