The tables at the casinos I have visited in Louisiana appear to be made with a layer of Volara closed cell foam overlayed by a synthetic micro-weave for the craps layout. I read a post by Frank Scoblete that these tables were made to last longer than felt, and allow brighter colors. In any case, they are very bouncy. When I make the recommended 45 degree throw, the dice will often bounce out of the table.
I added a practice rig, which I had to modify, to add the Volara closed cell foam (1/8") and micro-weave layout. I am struggling with determining the correct angle for the throw.
Frank’s books and the GTC training videos I purchased here recommend a lower angle, but nothing specific (btw, the videos are great for seeing how the experts grip, throw and release). They also recommend landing further away from the back wall. I am trying a 30 degree release and landing 9-12 inches from the back wall with mixed results. My throws don’t bounce out of bounds, but I struggle getting the dice to settle down quickly. And, with a lower angle for the release, I appear to have to add speed to get the dice to the correct landing zone.
I would appreciate advice from those who throw successfully on the Casino Craps tables that have the bouncier bedding.
What is the best angle below 45 degrees? What is the best distance from the back wall? Should the throw be faster or the same?

I have tried landing closer to the back wall. However, the bounce either sends the dice out of the table, or back to me for 1 to 3 feet, with a soft throw at 45 degrees.
Have you had any success with a flattened throw?

IMHO, you’re on the right path. Keep your dice under the rail, which will result 20-25 degree angle of attack. As Jaw Bones noted, check your grain and make sure you have yours mounted the same as the direction you shoot in at the casino.
Lastly, adjust your rotation on the dice. I’m finding that most of the microfiber in Chicago area demand more rotations and landing closer to wall.
Good hunting!

Thank you for the excellent advice. That is exactly what I will do.

Thanks, and that is how I will practice for the next 3 weeks daily. I will return to Lake Charles, Louisiana, to try it out, primarily to find my weak spots. BTW, I plan to attend the next GTC classes in Shreveport. I hope to meet some of you then.
