Craps

2016 Vegas trip

Spread the love

Well hi all GTCers. I was in Vegas April 21-30. And this how it went for me at the craps tables. I didn’t play the first day there.
Day 22, I had three rolls in the teens.
Day 24, I didn’t play at all. Just spent time with family.
Day 25, I had a couple of high teens and then I hit my first 30 roll.
Day 26, I did play I had a couple of rolls under 10 rolls.
Day 27, I was rolling back in the high teens again and I rolled my first high roll of 45 roll!!! That was exciting!!! Then after that high roll I threw "28 roll"!!!
Day 28 I threw a couple of rolls in the low teens and then I threw a "38 roll"!!! And then I threw a "29 roll" what a day!!!
Day 29 I had a two 3 roll and 6 roll! I didn’t do good that day.

So all in all I can say my rolls were there. As for making money, I didn’t make much because it was double odds. And I would loose money on random shooters. And yes I have proof of my rolls and sent them to Dom.

Awesome trip report, personal records, solid shooting! Congratulations!

My goodness, I didn’t make much because it was double odds.

If you are rolling well be a sport and leave money up there with a place bet. A week like that and I would be up about $40,000 or more starting at just with $25 pass line and come betting.

Live a little and when on a large roll leave some money up there. Especially on the 4 and 10 if they are taking the vig after and the 6 and 8 which have about the same house edge as a pass line or come bet.

I was in Monaco and wondered why I had so little money after the first night of good rolls and realized it was because of the double odds. The next night I did about the same rolling but left with 4x as much money because I adjusted my betting to placing in addition to the come bets.

Great rolling. Thanks for posting. Jesse is right as far as double odds is not the greatest. Once you start to get into a decent roll, there is nothing wrong with some double dipping.

Thanks for the advise. I’ll keep that in mind next time.

Spurs did a nice job this weekend. Friend likes the Thunder. Had fun with him.

Posted by: FourTen on May 2, 2016, 11:57 pm

Yes they did. Lets see how the Spurs do tonight.

Posted by: JesJac on May 3, 2016, 1:03 pm

Sheesh. I cannot believe they did not call a foul when he elbowed him out of the way from out of bounds.

Nice trip report.

Did you 5 count the other shooters? Hope so but I have a hunch your answer will be no.

Posted by: FourTen on May 4, 2016, 2:08 am

Yes I did 5-count on everybody. It got to a point where the box guy told me I had to bet and not wait for my turn to shoot. When I did bet people would seven out on the next shot after I place my come bet. Hopefully it will work better for me next time. Meanwhile, I’ll just keep practicing.

Posted by: Finisher on May 4, 2016, 3:06 am

There is a rule that you need to bet on the player before your turn but is seldom in-forced . But if they don’t like you that is another story .
I can see that they take me out of system at times because I don’t bet on every player but that comes with not betting .
I don’t know all the rules they have and some times I think they make them up as they WISH .Nothing is written in STONE .
Go were they like your action no matter what it is .You will throw better and it will be more fun .
I use the system that if a crap number is rolled I bet a come bet with min. odds till I win it then wait for the next crap number .Most of the time I win my come bet or never get to make another bet on that roller . But some times I win the come bet which is not bad .
I do hate it when that one come bet stays up for 20 or 30 rolls then the 7 comes along .But then I do like it when I win as soon as I put it up .
Good Rolling. 🙂 🙂

Just tell them you like to wait and see if they will be able to roll a few numbers first and ignore anything else.

If they push you complain to the floor guy or leave.

I once told a guy that if he put some money out I would tell him how to bet otherwise I bet my way with my money. He did not like it but he stopped bothering me.

Posted by: Skinny on May 4, 2016, 3:28 pm

JesJac is right. They can’t tell you how to bet.

I usually try to make a joke about it and say something like, "Are you kidding me? Would you bet on these guys with your money? I am waiting for them to qualify before I bet on them. So far none of them can do anything."

They should understand what it means to qualify a shooter. Most of the time they will laugh, agree with me and back off after that.

Posted by: JesJac on May 4, 2016, 3:45 pm

That’s a great line

Would you bet on these guys with your money?

With a good follow-up.

I am waiting for them to qualify before I bet on them. So far none of them can do anything."

Posted by: Mr Finesse on May 4, 2016, 4:33 pm

My standard line is that I am waiting for the shooter to qualify. This normally slows them down and gives me time to bet the way I want. If I must make a bet I will make the minimum pass line without odds and consider it rent I am paying to be at the table.

Posted by: Finisher on May 4, 2016, 7:21 pm

That is good . Then it is rent that you can only get back with a win . If the point is what it is and you just follow what the dealers say a lot you may be better off . Now you say WHAT THE F****. Well let me say . First the dealers will say if the 9 is the point bet the 5 ,if it is the 6 they say place the 8 so so .So you bet what they say and for ANY reason like a crap number comes up or dice go off table or any crazy thing just take your bet down and you get your rent back .
Now you see were I was going . It is not a contract bet so can take down at any time and pays more if you hit it .May cost a little more up front depends on number .
But some times you can get it back FAST .
Good Rolling. 🙂 🙂

Posted by: FourTen on May 4, 2016, 8:09 pm

Ahhhhh, point well made Finisher. I see where you’re going. So make the minimum place and if i hit on the next shot take it the winnings and place bet and wait for the actual 5-count to finish then make the come bet. I think I’ll do that with every other shooter. So at least the dealers think I’m playing and I won’t get hassled. 😀 😀 😀

Posted by: Finisher on May 4, 2016, 10:50 pm

I find that if I have a problem like your I like to make them think that I am one of the most superstitious persons alive .So that is why I will take down my bet on a Cfers hand for any reason IF they are complaining about not betting .I do get bored and bet more then I should some times but for the most part I do bet little at times .I pick and choose who I bet on . Some times it works and not some times .
It is their game BUT your money .
Good Rolling. 🙂 🙂

This is kind of a dumb way to do it.

Look at the odds.

If they make a 6 and you place the 8 you give up 1.5% Not bad. However, a come bet is 1.4% You focus on the craps that comes out but not on the 7 or 11 which come out twice as often — 4 ways to make crap, 8 ways to make 7 – 11.

Go look at the discussions on hedging your pass line bet for how silly that is.

Now, if they throw a 5 point and you place the 9 you are giving up 4% more than twice what you give up just doing a come bet. If it is a 4 and you place the 10 worse — 6.8% against you. If you buy the 10 and the vig is after, better but for $20 it is 1.7%. If the vig is after and you buy it for $35 or $39 it is 1% or less against you. If the vig is before it is worse 4.7% against you.

So, your idea does not advise a better bet than the come in any case except buying the 4 or 10 for $35 or more with the vig paid after.

🙂 See Dom. I really do pay attention… sometimes 🙂

Now you are talking about betting and playing craps rather then getting the dealers OFF your back about NOT betting .This is different .I thought you wanted to get ideas about getting the heat away from you .
If nothing is said about betting I do no place betting except till the roller before me at casinos that I don’t play at .At casinos I play at most I just do one come bet till I win then place another when a crap number is rolled .My bets can be few and far between at times .Also min. odds unless I like how the roller is throwing . Also if like how the shooter is rolling ALL things change .Also I am a sucker for women so I like to bet on them .They usually have a softer throw .But ALL shakers are a no bet .
My biggest problem is I STAY TOOOOOO LONG AT THE TABLE .I eat breakfast go to table buy in for 200.00 and then eat dinner . Then back till I get tired or bed time .If I get to loss limit I stop and play VP in hopes to win enough to buy back in .
IT is interesting to see how others bet .I just love to play toooooo much I guess .Now that I am getting older it is harder on the FEET tho and more rest room breaks .
Good Rolling. 🙂 🙂

This has been a great thread. Rose and Doc are pretty disciplined when at the table. If we are the only 2 controlled shooters at the table here is how we play.

1. Usually do 3–4 at the most–times around the table. Then it is time for a break. If we are consistently winning we may stay a little longer. Being tired can kill your bank roll.

2. If we have won a little after 2 rolls, but the 3rd time around gives us a nice profit, we leave. Nothing is more depressing then to be up $400 to $1000 and then lose it back. Can’t begin to count the times that we have been up only to stay and lose it back. So have win limits and loss limits to determine when you will leave the table.

3. We come to a table and there are only a couple of people at the table and we can get positions we are good to to. A couple of times around the table and now we have 14 people at the table. It may well be an hour or 1 1/2 hours until we get the dice back. We are out of there. There is always another craps table at another casino where the situation will be better.

Play smart. There will always be another opportunity to be at the tables.

This:

Now you are talking about betting and playing craps rather then getting the dealers OFF your back about NOT betting .

Is a bit silly. You money is ALWAYS at risk there. Is it worth 4% of your money to have some dealer or boxman stop bothering you. Hell no!

Making a bet to have them stop bothering you does not mean you have to shoot yourself in the foot.

Be like the most successful business people — the hell with everything else, keep your eyes on the goddamn money. That is what the casino guys are doing when they want you to risk yours.

Keep in mind, they know they are going to win a certain percentage over the long run. Every time you put down a $10 place bet their idea is that on a 8-6 they just earned $0.15 on a 5-9 $0.40 they want $10,000 on those 5-9s so they can earn $400 rather than $0.40 How do they get it? Mostly by getting many people in to put down $10 bets.

Look at how much they spend to get a guy who buys in for $10,000 Tons: rooms, shows, meals Your money is the same as that just smaller. Why let them bully you when they are pandering to others?

Hell, at Mohegan they like when I show up at the $50 table with my paltry $1500 buy in. Why? Others see me, know I am likely to have a winning roll and buy in to play. The Pit knows damn well that they will buy in for $5000 or more and multiple times. Why? Because they win on me and lose it back and more on others waiting for me to get the dice again. Then, by the time the dice come around to me again, they count on a winning roll — which does not always happen — buy in again for $5000. If I have a winning roll, a bunch will cash out still down from the first buy in. Even if they are up the Pit knows they will be back — and when I am not around so the usual percentages will apply — because they had so much fun.

Again, why let them bully you. Just push your chips in to color and leave saying something like, I am going to… at least they treat you nicely there.

It does not sound like you are worried about a 10.00 bet any way .So if I see a guy who starts off with a pass line bet with full odds and one come and no other bet till after the 5 count along with not betting on any others it may be you ?
GOOD BETTING DOES GO A LONG WAYS . IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE LEARNED A LOT AND PUT IT INTO ACTION . WERE i HAVE SEEN A LOT OF PLAYERS TAKE THE CLASS TO END UP MAKING HOP AND HORN BETS ALL THE TIME .
It is hard to change old ways for some .
I think all the instructors will attest to that .
Good Rolling. 🙂 🙂

Posted by: JesJac on May 5, 2016, 5:27 pm

Hell no.

If you see a guy who does not bet until after the 5 count it might likely be me. But, it might not. Many times I use a 6 or 10 count 🙂

Heck, I have waited the 5 count, put out a 6 or 8 for $30 or $60 had the guy roll a crap, thank god I did not put out a come and take my 6 or 8 down immediately.

Of course, if you see someone wait the 5 count, put out a 6 or 8 and then the guy rolls a 7 — which happens 3 times for every 2 craps — you can hear me curse often.

I play with Mr Finesse on a regular if not frequent basis. Always funny to watch him laughing at me as I move my one place bet back and forth on the 6 or 8 just to have something to do and missing the hit each time 🙂

Posted by: Finisher on May 6, 2016, 12:51 am

JesJAC The next time you meet Mr Finesse ask him if he is going to change the classes to 2016 .I sent him a PM but never heard or saw the change so it is an if about that PM Getting threw .No big thing since the year is almost half over .
But may want to change it for 2017 .
I find that some times my one bet does go back and forth way to much .With others winning on pass line . 🙁 🙁
Good Rolling. 🙂 🙂
