I was just watching a thing on Michael Jackson and his trip from kid to successful king of pop. I am a sucker for a success story, any type.
Anyway, Kobe was talking about having met Michael and all the things Michael taught him. One time Kobe says he asked Michael how much he practices his dance. Michael said to him, "Until I can’t any more." Kobe said he asked but how long — Michael’s response was something like, I mean it. I dance until I just cannot lift my feet any more.
That changed Kobe’s view on practice.
You want the $$ Practice.
Reminds me of an interview of Dr. J decades ago. (Julius Ervin for those are not old enough… look him up. NBAs Michael Jordan before he was even in high school) Some guy was interviewing him and asked what it was like having all that natural talent. J went off on him for 20 minutes straight about how long he practiced with blisters on his hands and worn out balls etc. before they forced a commercial break to end it. It started with: Natural talent hell. Do you know how long…
Read the end of Mr. Finesse’s post. And again, practice is no good unless it is directed and good technique. The world is full of people who practice the wrong things and wonder why they never get ahead. If you are not signing up for a personal tune-up Fridays before the seminars you are short changing yourself.
For those who do not know. I was winning and then something went funky. Could not figure it out for over a month and no class was soon. Flew to Columbus for a private consult with Dom.
He, of course, knew what it was after the first throw. I could see it in his eyes. He said throw a few more. Yep. Told me.
I had the cost of the consult back the next day after playing. The airfare a few days after that when I played again.
Get the GTC video and practice. Especially if you are not hitting consitently get some feedback from experts — it does not cost anything, IT PAYS!! Sign up for those Friday personals.

We practice every day. It helps, of course, to have a spouse that has also taken the courses so we can spot issues with each other’s throw but there is no substitute for going to a GTC course at least once a year. For those who have special others that also like to play, I would strongly recommend taking a course together. I feel the value is exponentially greater when two are receiving the instruction and then can practice together.
This year I am going to do a Video Elite on Friday and the Advanced over the weekend. Unfortunately I can’t make it till the September Vegas course. Wish I could make it happen sooner. Not sure if Lady Luck is going to take another course but I am trying to get her to do the Refresher while I am doing the Advanced.
I love your posts. Hope to meet you and course/casino in the near future.

I will do the entire advanced package then including the video etc. Funny thing is that by then I will have moved to NC and have to fly up to AC. Sheesh.
We will have to get together. Are you going to TN the last weekend in March? That is the next time I will be down there and going to Cherokee.
