I hit my favorite house twice this weekend, nothing amazing either way for me, but when I arrived yesterday, there was only one table open and folks waiting to get in. Berto had just started shooting before 11:30, and I watched from the 2nd row straight out stick right to watch his throw. His dice were looking nice, bang, hit the first point. A few tosses later, had his second point, I think it was the 5 then 9. I was talking to the floor person about tables opening and got 2 spots reserved at the next table to open hoping that if he needed to, Berto could shoot again quickly before he had to leave to travel.
Well, after a few more tosses, the box person who I haven’t seen in months arrived at the new table and I went over to chat with her. The new table was kitty-corner from where he was shooting and I continued to watch Berto toss, now 20 minutes. Crew gathers, starts counting the bank, now 30 minutes. We all buy in, I get the dice, now 35 minutes. I have my mediocre roll from SL1 (should have gone to Sl2 where I’ve been shooting here with the group lately), keep watching, now 40 minutes, crew arrives at table across from me and gets the table open with one shooter straight out, next to Berto, I play out the money I have on a CF’er who’d getting me a little back, I ask the new stick to reserve SL 1-2 over there. 7 out on my table, I pick up and move. I keep watching, now 50 minutes, he hits again, dice looking good. A couple of rolls from a shooter on my table, I look over, and the mop up has begun, I see black and green heavily across the SL box. The floor people gather at my table and discuss the $20,000 plus to be paid out over on that table for folks coloring up. One gent on my table who I’d been talking to said it was a 4 point fire.
After coloring up and hitting the cage, Berto came over to discuss. He said one guy hit for about $18k on the roll. Berto didn’t do shabbily either. After that long roll, he headed out and I proceeded with a short roll and left myself a couple down for the weekend, but OH WHAT A MONSTER I SAW. Of course I wish I could have been in on it and gotten the roll count for him, but even from a distance, it was a blast to watch. WELL DONE, BERTO!!!
