ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) – A professional hockey player faces sentencing for being part of an illegal sports betting business that took wagers from other players.

Nathan Paetsch (paytch) is expected to receive eight months of home confinement, as well as community service and probation in federal court in Rochester Friday.

The 32-year-old accepted a plea agreement in June which will also require him to forfeit $265,000.

Paetsch played the last three seasons in the American Hockey League. Before that, he spent part of five seasons with the National Hockey League’s Buffalo Sabres, through 2010.

Authorities say he was involved with a gambling operation that took bets through offshore websites, placing wagers himself and receiving credit when he recruited fellow players and others to bet.
