I was at a table in Atlantic City with some fellow GTC students and the Goddess and her husband and Mr. Finesse when I decided to shoot out of position since there was no room at the table on stick left.
So I took a position at stick right two and threw right handed.
I had a couple of good rolls in the 20s and high teens where I made a few points.
Then I had a 48 number roll from stick right two. What was amazing to me is that I never threw from that
position except for maybe one time several years ago.
I never practice that shot yet it felt natural and I had a great roll and several other decent rolls.
I’m very glad and excited about being able to throw from stick right and will now
be making that my new position at the craps table.

I am very leery when you said that you only threw from SR1 once before and don’t practice from that position and now you want to make it your permanent position. Please don’t take this the wrong way Adam, and I am going to say this so everyone can learn and you know I say it like it is, but even a squirrel finds an acorn every now and then when he looks for it the right way. What I mean by that is that you did everything right from SR1 … your fingers straight across the front, good backswing, nice rotation, and landing the dice on the same general spot, but you haven’t practiced from there so I got to tell you that you moved luck to your side of the table, and that is a good thing.
If I went to the golf course and on a short par 3 I sunk a hole in one, and if I went bowling and rolled a 290 game that doesn’t mean I am ready for the tour. Why, because I don’t play golf, or bowl anymore. I use to so I know about how to grip the club or hitting a spot on an alley, but without practice it was luck.
My point here is that you have the ability to throw from SR1, you have height and length in your arms and you should practice that throw at home and maybe take a tune up or a refresher from the right side, but don’t make it your main position until you have done the math and know you have an edge from the right.
Hope this makes sense

I am feeling more natural immediately with almost no adjustment. The reality for me is that I haven’t had a
long roll for a very long time from my stick left spot. I am still using all of the training and practice except
that the results are consistent and better from the right.
I am not giving up throwing from stick left but just experimenting and testing the stick right position.
If I continue to make points and make money and have many long rolls I think I will stick with it.
I don’t disagree with you but luck just won’t be the reason if the results continue to bear out with longer rolls and fewer sevens.

SUPER news and congratulations!!! Glad you had a great time playing with everyone and a great roll.
A few things on what Dom wrote. He’s right, I’ve seen him bowl. Seriously, just remember you have a great shot from the left side so don’t forget that and don’t be so quick to give it up. If you really want to learn the shot from the other side of the table, then you really have to practice an equal amount of time as if it was your normal shot. And, I really like Marilyn’s suggestion about taking a regular class where your secondary shot is looked at by all of the instructors. We’ve had a number of people take classes shooting from the opposite side and even some shooting with the opposite hand.
You know I shoot from the opposite side as well but what I don’t think people see is that I actually alternate full practice sessions as if each shot is separate and distinct from my other shots. I even have separate logs for my rolls and never mix the two.
I hope that helps and once again – GREAT JOB!!!
