Craps

New Table

Spread the love

A few months ago I ordered a 12′ table from GTC and although we had a few issues getting it delivered by the carrier it finally arrived. While I was in Vegas, at the open house, I got a call from my wife telling me the truck was in the driveway waiting for me to unload it. Well, in my current physical state it wouldn’t be possible for me to unload a 1200lb. crate from Vegas, so she got my son, brother and brother in-law to come over to break down the crate. With a lot of help from the driver they got the table pieces into the sun-room it was destined for. A few days after I returned from Vegas my brother, his neighbor, my son and I assembled the table and what a beautiful piece it is. It fits in the sun-room great! Last week my brother came over and we put the finishing touches on. We lowered the table about 4" to make it more comfortable to play on, stapled the layout over-hang to the bottom of the table, set up a chip bank, put out the on-off pucks and the new 42" stick.
This past Wednesday my wife mentioned that we should have friends over. We invited 5 couples to come over for drinks and a look at our new table. Several of the couples responded that they couldn’t make it but we assured them that we would be doing this again soon. My brother and his wife showed up along with my son. My son’s long time friend, her husband and their two kids, 1 yr. and 13 yr. also came over. Everyone’s reaction to the table was "WOW!". Around 8pm we started craps class since no one but myself and my brother knew how to play.
I started out by assuming the role of shooter from SL1 and my brother took up position as the third base dealer. My son played stick. I began by describing the number cycle and going through a few cycles. In the process I was able to make a pass or two, threw a few come-out winners/losers and after a few minutes of this we started giving everyone a chance to be the shooter. During these hands I instructed the group on the Come bet, odds on the pass-line and eventually the place bet. Everyone picked all this up rather quickly. Next I broke out some 3×5 cards with True odds and House odds for each box number and placed them by each box number. When the dice got to the 13 yr. old my brother, the middle school science teacher, went into his teacher mode. After a short instruction by me on how to throw the dice, one hand, hit the back wall, etc. she began throwing and quickly made her first pass. She had a $10 pass-line bet with 5x odds, her point was the six and my brother tells her " the pay-out on your odds is 6 to 5 but I won’t pay you until you can tell me how much I owe you". Her father and I both groaned but she was up to the task and quickly tells my brother, you owe me $70 bucks". My brother says" hold on there". " How do you get that"? " She comes back with "you owe me $10 for the pass-line bet and $60 for the odds." Now pay up!" We were laughing so hard the women in the kitchen which is right off the sun-room had to poke their heads in to see what all the laughing was about. When we were done playing and as everyone was getting ready to leave the 13yr. old’s father told me that was the most outgoing he had seen his daughter ever. My brother is really great with kids that age since he deals with them every day.
Even the 1 yr. old had fun sitting on the chip rail with support from dad and watching the dice fly by. We all had a great time. My wife and I agree that I not only have a great piece of equipment to hone my skills but we also have a wonderful gaming table for when we entertain. The only negative for the night was that the women drank all my scotch, well they had some help.

I love it, what a great post,

I remember when my granddaughter was an infant, she learned how to add when I threw the dice – she would say 4-3 = 7 my turn.
Now she is 21 and keeps hounding me to take here to Vegas so she can take a class.

Sounds like you are open for business!

Enjoy the practice and the entertainment! I have to admit I am a tad bit jealous but some day I will have my own. 😀

Glad that you got such a great table to play on . Now comes the reality that the dealers earn their money . When you have parties it seems that ever body wants to threw and you may end up being the dealer .
It is a lot of fun tho .
You may find out how to post Pics if you go back to old posts . I think Skinny posted it a long time ago or it may have been some other person but they did help me post mine a few years past .It was after I built my own table .I think the table plan and pics are still on site .
Hope to see the Pics .
Good Rolling. 🙂 🙂

Thanks buddy. I had that last 1 but I beat myself. Out of the last 8 the only 1 left who could of beat me did…..me. Those last 7 were not on my level but I learned a 100k lesson on why not to assume ANYTHING.

So last week my cable provider contacted me to tell me my equipment was due for upgrade. I had the choice of a self install which would require me to take the old equipment to Norristown 30 min away with no casino on the way or a tech visit. So I scheduled a tech visit which worked out well since they discovered the cable from the street to the house is defective and needs replacing. Three techs showed up and while the lead guy was down in the basement trying to improve the signal strength the other two heard me in the sun room with the music going. They wandered in and when they saw the table they were amazed. Both admitted they knew nothing about craps but wished they could learn. I gave them a quick lesson on how to play, gave them 300 in chips and we played while tech 3,the new guy, worked on my cable. They threw and I dealt. When tech number three came upstairs it turned out he was the boss. lol. He says to me "great I’ll never get these two back to work now." We had a good laugh as I put the dice and stick away. They noticed the Golden Touch logo on the table and I briefly explained what that was. I also gave them the web site info and invited them to the open house in November. We had a great time.

Butcher, check the file size, I think there’s a limit.

Sounds like you’re rustling up some new business for GTC.
