Northeast Crew-TR from the Sun

Spread the love

Yesterday we played at M.S. – Mr. Finesse, JohnC1, Angel, Sandra and myself. I might be a little long winded here, so please be patient. 🙄 Things started off a little rocky on the 14 ft. ($5) table – two full times around the table and I was the only one to make a (single) point. Things were looking pretty dire and we were all down some $$ – except for the guy next to me who was killing it on the dark side. We saw some spots open up on our favorite 12 ft. table ($10) and so we quickly moved over. Best move of the day!! Mr. Finesse settled in at SL1 and quickly got things going with a hand in the 40’s, knocking off the four point fire bet. Angel at SL2 followed with a similar hand – well into the 40’s also. Both hands were perfect for the come-bettor, as both shooters were able to throw many repeating numbers. It was classic GTC rolling – remarkable to watch these two do so well, one after another, dropping the dice in the same spot every time. John was the perfect blocker, keeping the landing area clear – we even put some chips in an empty spot near the hook to keep people from buying in during the roll – our ‘phantom shooter’ spot. LOL. The female dealer on our end of the table was great, making sure our come bets were well out of the way of the dice and keeping the game moving quickly. We tipped her very well, which was appreciated. There was a guy next to John and I who was betting pretty aggressively and making quite a profit on the rolls – his wife kept coming over to the table wanting him to leave, and he kept buying time by giving her stacks of green. He remarked that she was already down $1500 for the day on the slots!! After Angel threw, we broke for lunch – everyone was up substantially by then and didn’t want to push our luck – not to mention that winning makes you hungry! After lunch the table was full, so we hung out for a while and then said our goodbyes. The guy with the full rack that I mentioned was STILL at the table. Saw his wife go back to ask him for more $$ and he turned her away – looked at his rack and he had only a few chips left. Perfect example of why you should not stay too long (as I am so often guilty of doing…). Win or lose, it’s always fun to play with the N.E. crew. Most times it’s just John, me, Angel and sometimes Lou on Saturday mornings…so it was nice to see Mr. Finesse and my new friend Sandra!! Looking forward to seeing some of you in AC next week – it will be a last minute decision but I’m hoping we can make it.

Hands High!!

Yesterday could have been a true disaster considering the way it started. I think we went around almost 4 times with only 1 pass being made. I went point 7 three times and on my 4th had I established a point made 2 come bets and then the RED came out. That extra length sure affected me yesterday.

I am always looking at my toss after I throw the seven and I realized I had to throw the dice just a little harder than I wanted to make up for the added distance. So when the other table opened up which we all love we quickly moved there and the best part was the dice were at SR1 and I went to SL1 and angel went to SL2. Perfect!!!!

I got the dice right away and I eased in because I was down 3 Benjamins from the 1st table we played on. This was a $10 table with 5 x’s odds. I was going to come bet with dbl odds to see how it was going to go, JohnC and LuckyCharm were at the end of the table keeping the landing zone wide open. After I made 1 pass and collected on a few come bets I had recoverd 1 Benjamin and it was time to expand out and increase my odds. When the hand ended I was at max odds on the 4. 5. 8 & 9. I had the 6 with 4 times odds and I never threw 1 ten for the entire hand. I was using the 2 V and continually single pitching 1 of the dice or rolling out the left dice and this is the reason for all of the inside numbers. My toss was doing everything the 2 V is supposed to do. This was a hand that lasted into the 3rd stick change and I made a very nice profit on it.

I must credit Dom for the improvement in my toss since my return from the Vegas Class. We never talked about my toss but when we were playing in Vegas on the Monday after class I was down the end of the table blocking and I am watching every one’s toss as I always do. Dom is throwing the dice right at me and I notice that I am not doing what I preach to all my students. Just lets the damn dice go, don’t baby them. I realize I am throwing the dice to soft when I am playing. I make a mental note to practice with more momentum on my toss when I get home.

I did this in practice and in 6 casino sessions I have had 1 hand in the 40’s, 6 hands in the 30’s, 4 hands in the 20’s and a few in the high teens. This also includes a few quick 7 outs which piss me off but they are ok because you don’t have a lot of money on the table yet.

Thanks Dom for the help and you didn’t even know it until I told you last week.

BTW my 7 out on the hand yesterday was a toss that I just threw too low and hard, a double pitch 5-2 where the left dice ran into the inside hook instead of going straight to the back wall.

Yes I do analysis on my own toss.

Lessons learned from the Northeast Gang Saturday Trip

As the previous reports mentioned we started out on the 14 ft. table. I was shooting from SR1 and every time I received the dice, there were chips in the landing area. I tried my best to avoid them by leaning way out to the center on the table but it changed the shot making the toss mediocre at best. Then the 12 ft table opened up. Bob and Angel took over SL positions. I could have shot from SR2.5 but decided after being annoyed with chips in the landing area to be a blocker. Michelle joined me and we were able to keep the entire landing area clear. Since “winning is the most fun” I thought this would give Bob and Angel the best chance to have extended rolls without the distraction of shooting around chips. As Bob’s roll continued, Michelle and I acted like NFL linemen closing the gap to protect the quarterback. One woman asked if there was room and Michelle said very sternly “no room here”. The poor woman just turned around and walked away. I thought heat would come from the dealer on that move but the dealer said nothing and continued to place our come bets out of the way. After that, the tips for the dealer kept increasing with every hit.

The extended rolls back to back by Bob and Angel were classic GTC right from the class room and reinforced the reason why I practice at home so much.

Lesson 1: Importance of the clean landing area / blocking when in a group
We all want the dice but being a blocker can lead to more profits. Too many times I have seen Angel on the start of a great roll only to have players come in a place chips in the entire landing area. I realize we are taught to shoot around them but sometimes the area left is small leading to a very difficult shot.

Lesson 2: The higher level of the dealers tips, the higher level of cooperation. This is a stretch but the dealers on our end of the table did everything they could to help the rolls continue.

Looking forward to the next outing, win or lose it always is a great time with great people.

What a great thread. Congrats to all for the fine disciplined play. Just Rose and I could have been there.

More importantly were the lessons that were included in the various posts. We can all learn so much from you guys and gals. Keep up the good work.

To quote Goldlfinger—GTC rocks.

Winning is the most fun.

Well first, what a great time you guys are having at the Sun and I am missing it all every time I get to NY. I am going to try to get there this next month with you guys!

Next, Thanks Bob! We all have helped each other through these 13 years of GTC and before GTC. You have helped me many times so I am glad I could pay you back even though I didn’t know it! 😀

Lesson learned —- "Trust the GTC throw" and don’t baby those dice!
