Craps

Another Baseball Analogy

Spread the love

I recently had time to take my kids to a training center for baseball batting and pitching instruction. While working on their stance and other things they were hitting off the tee. The instructor pointed to a stich on the baseball and said to concentrate and hit it in the exact spot. All of a sudden I went back to practice and some of my longest turns with the dice. When I practice I throw at a tiny piece of paper a dot if you will, when I throw dice in the bowl and the bowl gets full I try to throw to the empty part of the bowl. On my best rolls at the casino, I was throwing not at the firebet emblem but at the side and edge of the emblem. Another roll I had to place the dice between 2 stack s of chips. I realized that recently I have not concentrated on an individual spot just an area, because I had a blocker. I will correct this part of my throw next week in Tunica.
It is amazing how many times the baseball instructor reminds me of my instruction from our coaches and instructors at GTC classes.
From the easy going Nickatnight, Doc ,Alligator Rose, Goldfinger, to the aggressiveness of Dom to Mr Finesse’s shear frustration with me, 😀 we get something from all. See you next week.

Baseball and craps is an analogy I use all the time, and again you bring up some great points.

it is always a spot on the table that your eyes should be concentrating on on, not an area. I like to say that everyone needs to become a target shooter not a shot gun shooter. Putting your dice at a spot that you want is difficult but something that everyone needs to be able to do to get better and better

Great observation Tommy!

Very good point Tommy! When I get lax and only toss to an area then my dice are not good. When I try to go to a pinpoint spot then I know I am focused like I really need to be. Great reminder!

As always a great analogy. For those on the board who play golf there is a similar idea. When the ball is on the tee keep your eye on the very back of the ball and hit that spot. Keep our eye there all the way through your swing and only then look up to catch sight of the ball flying through the air. The same holds true for fair way shots, chip shots and putting.

And yes dice control is a sporting event.
