After a personal from Dom about 10 weeks ago and a hell of a lot of practice I was in Chicago and had time before my plane.
Rivers Casino is across the highway. Tried it out. Nice and easy just over the odds chips at the end. I really was not paying attention to anything but keeping the throw accurate. Short story, left with seven times my buy in — and probably left about 70% that much out there when I 7ed. Oh well.
Came home with the wife away the next night. It is a ride but I went down to… Wanted to win a bunch but came out with only 25% more than buy in. Mmm. Disappointed (how’s that for arrogance?) Went on the weekend. Doubled my buy in on the first roll. My head got big. Lost my concentration and pressed the next time to get it back. Lost double my buy in — stupid. Learned a lesson.
Came home and went crazy trying to fix it. Watched the video again, if you do not have it get it. For $149 you will likely never make a better investment. Realized I was not gently getting it over the end. I had started to expect the dice to do what I wanted with no effort. Silly.
Fixed it. Went the other day for my birthday and came back with 2.5x buy in. Would have been more but I lost concentration on one roll, hit the bottom bumper instead of the table and rolled out 4-3. Ok. Everyone else was thrilled I was annoyed at the error. Still, I had about 3.4x buy in.
BUT, I was a bit greedy. Got tired and still tried a second roll (a couple of throwers between had long rolls but I only bet a bit on them). Two numbers and out. I had had 3.2x my buy in at the start of that second roll but 2 numbers and 7 because I was tired and the dice slipped.
Another lesson learned. One, don’t get a big head. Next, if you are tired quit. Next, keep to your cues.
Do you have a list with your cues to good rolls? I have one on paper, one in notes on my phone, one in an email to me that I can get to on my phone or anywhere and my wife now reads them to me before I start if she is with me or over the phone on the way if she is not. Given this last trip, if she is with me I think I will have her come and remind me of them before each time I get the dice and maybe in the middle of a roll if I feel it. I definitely did better with her standing where I could see her as a reminder. I will have to get her interested enough so she will stand at the end of the table.

All I can tell you is that you need to get some personal instruction. If you think it is expensive, think how much you are not winning if you do not get your throw down. Cheap and twice the cost.
Oh, that personal lesson. I am now up about 3x that in about 10 weeks. If that is the return I am sorry I did not buy a more expensive one. 🙂
If you do not do them at any other time, do them before or after a live seminar. Then, practice like hell. When your throw is there, bet a bit larger and make it all back on one trip to the quarter table.
A friend said I bought the instructions to having a Golden Touch but he would likely not do it because you have to be someone who can and will follow directions and put in the practice to go pro — as noted, this is the ultimate in professional sports. Instant reward and instant penalty with no second place. Either you win or not on each roll.
Of course, there are those rest stops between come outs and craps/11 don’t mean much in the middle of a roll, unless you are a come bettor.
How much would you work at it to get a job that pays $1000+ an hour? Even if you could only work 3 or 4 hours a week. How much would you work? Well, this is it. My wife, son and I were just talking about it at dinner. He is only 18 but will start practicing as soon as the full size table comes so he can make his tuition and not have to get student loans. My wife noted that I probably have practiced a few hundred hours over the last 9 weeks. ( would you be a bit obsessional if you have been losing at something for decades that was still tremendous fun for you and could now win??) Of course, knowing him as I do he will get good at throwing, he will take the loans, bet big and… god only knows? Where the hell can you not go if you have this skill set?
Think big. I am thinking about the times I will be at a quarter table and need to come bet because I have maxed the $2500 I can place. Hell, I bought extra black and even some orange chips for my practice table (already have plenty of purple).
Practice like hell. Watch TV? Have a practice rig and practice while you watch. Great at getting you to concentrate while there are distractions.
Here’s one. Some like to meditate but try this. Get your practice rig (as noted I am buying a full table with a portion of my winnings and if I can do it so can you). Put a chair in front of the rig with some dice out. Sit there until you can just be there in front of the rig and dice without falling asleep, without fidgeting or having to wipe your eyes or swallow or anything else but just being there comfortably.
Took me more than a few hours of sitting before I could be there comfortably and have the alarm ring at 20 minutes without me wondering how long it has been. Don’t think that is worth it?
How much do you get an hour?? I can tell you that my rate is fairly high and I am making a much better return with my hours at the tables than I make at work. And, it is a hell of a lot more FUN!!
See you in Memphis, then again in Vegas and I have cleared the schedule so I will likely see you in September too.
Have to teach in the UK this weekend and next. Next is in London. 7 casinos. Only two have dice. I will make a report in Memphis and might post up here.
If you spent the money to get on here and are not practicing 2 or 3 hours a day you are a slacker and wasting your investment.
I do not know if the Golden Touch guys agree but that is my view.

I am guessing you are referring to a table that has $2500 max bet on the placard.
If that is the case, the $2500 max usually refers only to the base line bet (pass or come). Normally it does not mean the max you are allowed on place bets, odds or prop bets.
Normally when it says $2500 max you can buy the 4 or 10 for up to $5,000, place the 5 or 9 for up to $5,000 and place the 6 or 8 for up to $6,000.
If the odds are 3-4-5X, with a $2500 line bet you can take $7,500/10,000/12,500 in odds. If the odds are 5X, you can take $12,500 in odds on every number with a $2500 line bet.
Prop bets are normally controlled by a max pay out of $15,000. So the max you should bet on a prop bet would be whatever would pay $15,000. If you bet more than that, they may or may not tell you it is over the limit but still only pay out $15,000.
Each casino has the final say on what they allow. The above is what I have seen at most. Ask a few dealers or box men what the max bets are to be sure at casinos where you think you might bet this amount.
Of course high rollers can arrange different maximums if they do so in advance and get approval. They will not increase the maximums during a roll without prior arrangements.
You said you wanted to think big so I wanted to help you be prepared.
Great trip report. Sounds like you are doing things right. Keep up the good work.

Didn’t know. I hate those craps that kill my come bets.
Will you be there in Memphis?

Not many people know about the maximums. I like to point it to those who might have a need to know some day and for general knowledge.
I don’t worry too much about a craps throw that loses a come bet now and then. But if I throw a significant number of craps in a roll, I know my shot is off and that is of more concern to me at the time. Sometimes I can figure it out during the roll and fix the problem. When I can not then I have a decision to make. If I think it is because I have not figured out the table yet, I may try another roll or so to see if I can get it right. If I think it is me, that is generally a good time to take a break and go to work in my room to figure it out.

If I am throwing a bunch of them my throw is off. However, I tend to throw consistently. Every once in a while I bet a three-way if I am crapping on the 11 or 66. I hit them enough to win significantly but get upset about it because the throw is off.
However, like when I play golf, if I am consistently off the same way… I can live it it because It means money.

Do me, no do yourself a favor, between now and the Memphis Class stop throwing the dice and just work on your GRIP.

And, it is the thing I imagine I will be asking for help with most.
