ID ten T error

SENIORS & COMPUTERS

As we Silver Surfers know, sometimes we have trouble with our computers.

Yesterday, I had a problem, so I called George, the 11 year old next door, whose bedroom looks like Mission Control, and asked him to come over.

George clicked a couple of buttons and solved the problem.

As he was walking away, I called after him, ‘So, what was wrong?

He replied, ‘It was an ID ten T error.’

I didn’t want to appear stupid, but nonetheless inquired, ‘An, ID ten T error? What’s that? In case I need to fix it again.’

George grinned…’Haven’t you ever heard of an ID ten T error before?

‘No,’ I replied.

‘Write it down,’ he said, ‘and I think you’ll figure it out.’

So I wrote down:
ID10T

I used to like George, the little shithead.

Reminds me of the time the family was having trouble with the TV. It simply would not work. Could not for the life of me figure it out. So we called the TV repair company. He came out and plugged in the TV. Seems that our 3 year old (now 42) had unplugged the darn thing.

Second item–I could not make the TV remote work–this was some 30 years ago and a TV remote was the newest top of the line technology invention. A friend came by and looked at the TV and punched the "TV remote on" button.

So I guess I have the "IDtenT" problem.

It’s also known as: 1) Loose nut in front of the keyboard, or 2) CKI (chair to keyboard interface) issue.
