Am posting this here as many in the GTC family can use this technique when you fly and the cost of travel is a part of the cost going to a gaming destination.
Read an article in the local paper about a new company that will save you money–an maybe even make you a few dollars–when you park your car at the airport while you travel.
Here is the deal–the name of the company is Flightcar. You can go to <flightcar.com> to check it out. You make arrangements to leave your car with Flightcar. There is no cost for them to store your car while you are away. The catch is that they will or may rent out your car while you are gone. If it is not rented there is no cost to you. If it is rented you get paid a few dollars for it to be rented. There are limits as to the number of miles that can be traveled each day while rented. They provide $1,000,000 of insurance in case your car is damaged, stolen, etc. Anything like this does not impact your personal auto insurance policy.
You drive to their location, they take you to the airport, on the day you return they give you instructions of being pickup at the airport, they will pick up you at the airport and drive you to your car. There will be no fee. If your car is rented you will receive a check in the mail.
I know for a GTC class weekend where we usually stay for 7 nights (8 days) the cost to store your car at the airport can be $80 to $100. This cost is eliminated.
Personally I would not take my brand new Mercedes (even if I could afford one) but I will leave my 2007 Saturn for them with everything not nailed down left at home, such as garage door opener, insurance papers or other documents with my name on it.
When you pick up the car it will be washed and vacuumed.
Will try it out for the AC class and let everyone know how it works.
Go to their web page and check it our for yourself.
Doc
PS–It is a 2 year old company started in California and is in 10 or 12 cities so it may be coming to you in the near future. It is brand new to our home town.
