Craps

First trip after reading book and watching video

Spread the love

Hi,
I am a new guy. Just was told about this by a friend who I like to play craps with when I teach.

Got stuck in Chicago trying to get back to NY early this week (snow). Went to the casino to try out my throw. Would have been up a bunch if I bet only on me or, maybe if I followed the 5-count but I was just experimenting. Even so, 3 hours or so at the table and my rolls were great so I was up about $20. Silly.

Stopped to eat dinner and read a book. Started again a bit after 8p. Same story, up about $25 until 10 when I got annoyed enough to only bet on me and there were only 4 at the table. Well, starting with just $300 and betting on someone else only once (a bit thick about it sometimes), by 1052p when I quit I had $800. Small bets, great rolls. The croups loved it as I put up $5 and gave them the winnings (only so repeated and they were cheering for me).

Funny thing is, I think I got a bit too enthusiastic and changed my grip or swing as practicing at home for the last two days I cannot get a roll… Working on a live instruction.

Welcome! There is a lot to learn and this is a fun journey. You’ll make new friends. First, do yourself a favor and take the primer class. It is an investment.
One is coming up soon in AC.

Joining the site is a great start and there is a mother lode of information and help here. Practice, practice and more practice. Sounds to me that you are off to a good start already.

Welcome. If you are seriously thinking about taking a class, I would suggest that you stop practicing at home. It is a lot more difficiult to correct things than to stat fresh from the beginning. If you do want to practice, perhaps concentrate on your grip, the most important factor, but even that has to be seen by instructors to give you the proper advice.

Another huge advantage to taking a clcass is to make friends, and meet up with them to practice or to go to casinos. Having other students watch your grip and throw can be a big help.

Hope to see you soon in a class.

Great report. Thank you for posting. From what you wrote, as Goddess said, you would really benefit from taking a class. Not only will you learn a lot but you will make a lot of friends and have fun over the class weekend.

The investment you will make in the classes will put you on the road to becoming an excellent advantage player.

Look forward to meeting you soon.

Thanks for posting. Welcome to the site. I agree with the others, it is much harder to correct things that you are doing wrong then start fresh. Hope to see you in class and if you are from the northeast, let me know and I will have you added to the North East crew. We try to get together once a month for group playtime.

Yes. Live instruction coming this weekend though I cannot make the seminars as the dates conflict with my own teaching weekends.

Funny thing. Went to Mohegan and did well. 7ed when the dice slipped from my fingers and was annoyed.

Went to Foxwoods before I discovered the hard tables do not work well there and lost a bunch trying to figure out what was wrong with my swing.

Sheesh. Eager for the weekend.

Welcome to GTC and thanks for joining us.

I can only agree with all of the info that was given to you. I might add one thing, stop playing no matter how much you like or want to. Save your money and learn how to bet on yourself properly and this will be done only in a class. This will be the most important investment you will ever make if you are going to play craps and gamble.

Adjust your schedule if you can and attend a class.

One last thing, practicing the wrong way is much harder to correct than not practicing at all.
