Craps

Shed for craps table

Spread the love

Anyone ever put a craps table into an outdoor shed. I am looking at sheds manufactured by Tuff Shed and trying to determing if an 8′ wide by 16′ shed would work or should I go for the 10′ wide shed that is 14′ long?

Any suggestions?

Go as big as possible. More room is always better. Go bigger if u can and make it a Man Shed. 😎

If you are getting a 12′ table I think the 8 x 16 would be best. Better to be a little longer than you need rather than coming up short in the long dimension.
My table is 62" wide and 13 feet long. Be sure to measure the "inside" of the shed and not the overall.Good luck.

Beware, assuming the shed will be outside, remember that the weather can have some effect on your table and / or your practice. If you live where there can be some extreme weather conditions such as very cold, very hot, or lots of moisture this can affect the table as well as when you can or cannot practice.

Have good lighting in the shed and perhaps a small space heater when the weather is cold. Believe it or not you can make a very small "air conditioner" that will help when it is hot. Google "how to make a 5 gallon bucket air conditioner" and there are several videos of how to do this. Even Mr. Guy Who Can’t Make Much Of Anything made one with his grandson. A fun little project. It will help in the summer.

Our table is inside the house but close to the bedroom. Rose usually sleeps a little later than me, but being close to our bed room makes it a little difficult to practice early. But I make up for that later in the day.

Breeze, Where I live, Westchester Co. NY, they tax you for everything you put up over 120 sq ft. Don’t know how fussy they are where you are but in good old NYS the assessors are always looking. Check with the code dept. first and then go ahead. I would be aware of the climate effect on the table and build accordingly.
Bigger is always better.

Be sure you build it big enough to hold all of your living room furniture.
You have to have your priorities straight.

I think the Breeze is in NJ. The temperature and humidity/moisture swings may not be so great for the table.

Scan Breeze may be in NJ . But from his post on get together . He lives in Calf.
He does a lot of travel tho .
My table is out side were I built it on a patio .I find that you do need more room then you think to get around it when there are more players .It does get cold so don’t play all year on it even tho I live in AZ.

Purchased a Tuff Shed brand shed that is 8′ x 15′ x 8′ tall. The city dictates that if it is larger than 120 sq. ft. that I need to follow building codes and set backs which would really screw me so I followed the code. They also have an 8′ tall maximum so I am going with a lean to style flat roof with a very slight slope to maximize interior height. If I decide I need more space I’ll buy another smaller shed and still be in code.

I live in Southern California and it does get cold and miserable for periods of time such that I quit practicing. My practice rig is currently in a covered breezeway and are connected to the garage. So other than shade and protection from rain it is essentially out doors.
