BOSTON (AP) – Steve Wynn says his $1.6 billion resort on the waterfront across Boston will offer the largest hotel rooms outside of Las Vegas and echo the “grand hotels” of the past.

In remarks at a real estate conference Thursday, Wynn reflected mostly on his family’s origins in the working class city of Revere, just north of Boston.

The casino mogul also took swipes at his company’s ongoing dispute with Boston Mayor Martin Walsh’s administration, which has filed a lawsuit to block the development in the city of Everett.

A spokesman said the speech was Wynn’s first public appearance in Boston since his company won the lucrative state casino license for the Boston-area in September, besting rival Mohegan Sun.

Wynn declined to take questions from reporters afterward.
