Saw the movie today when it opened nationwide. I watched it in IMAX and would recommend seeing it that way if you have the opportunity to do so.
I thought it was a great movie, extremely moving. Clint Eastwood has the ability to get the audience right into the movie and feel the emotion of the action. I find it hard to describe the feelings I felt as I watched the movie. I can tell you one thing which made an impression on me.
There is more to be seen after the movie ends which you will notice because it continues right after the end of the movie. But when that part finished no one in the audience got up to leave. Many sat there, I think trying to grasp the feelings they were experiencing from having seen the movie. Eventually some started to leave during the running of the final credits. I stayed until the last credit left the screen. I was not the only one to do so.
I read something Glenn Beck wrote after he and his family saw the movie. I am sharing a part of it since I think it gives a good description of the show.
" I have not experienced a movie like this before. I am left with a true feeling of war. A clear look at evil. A true feeling of what is important and one question I could not answer which was whispered by my daughter as I held her hand in the truck on the way home.
"Now what do we do daddy? We have seen it, and we know … But now what do we do?"
I wish I knew. But then again, maybe it’s best I don’t.
American sniper. Hard to watch. Harsh in every way. True vision of war and hatred. True depiction of American heroes. Brilliantly done all around."

Was also surprised with how long people stayed in their seat when it was over.
Now what does the country do.
