As one Atlantic City casino after another folds, the Borgata has announced a $13 million facelift of its casino floor, buffet, spa and suites starting next month.

The renovation of the 11-year-old property is "of central important in strengthening Borgata’s position as the East Coast’s premier resort destination," says Tom Ballance, president and COO in a statement today.

It’s not the most significant investment the Borgata has made in recent years — it updated all of its guest rooms in a $50 million upgrade in 2012 — but it is a positive sign in a town that has seen three casinos close in recent months, and another, Trump Taj Mahal, expected to shut down Dec. 12.

The Borgata improvements include a complete redesign of the Borgata buffet, and an update of the Spa Toccare men’s and women’s lounges and improvements to its workout facility. As part of the project, the Borgata will spend $6 million next year to restyle 39 suites and its two 5,000-square-foot Residence suites. The lobby and front desk will also be redesigned.

Despite Atlantic City’s slump, Caesars Entertainment, which owns the shuttered Showboat, has managed to lure Gordon Ramsay to the marquee restaurant space formerly occupied by Mia’s in the Caesars lobby, and added a Guy Fieri restaurant to its offerings at Harrah’s earlier this year.
