AC Class and Report

Spread the love

Those who missed the AC class certainly missed a great weekend of learning. The primers and refreshers really worked hard and did a fantastic job getting their advantage play in gear. It was good to see so much improvement.

Will start the trip by the fact that Rose and Doc went to West Texas to visit the grand kids and celebrate our son in law’s parents 50th wedding anniversary. We were there Friday through Monday. On the Monday prior to the class weekend we caught a plane in Lubbock to Philadelphia. If you haven’t flown between these two towns before on Southwest, let us simply say that it is not easy. We got in to Philadelphia at 10:00 pm and checked into a Holiday Inn Express close by–exhausted.

Slept late, got a ride to the rental car company and headed to AC with a couple of stops for Rose to do some shopping as she knew once we hit AC most of our time would be in class or the casino. Got in mid afternoon and took a rest period in the room—the incredibly long plane ride with transfer the day before had taken it’s toll.

We did go down to the casino but only one table was open and no spots open. We opted for little BJ using speed count and lost a little. Walked the boardwalk to the casino next door, which is was a part of the group where we stayed most of the time. Our spots were open and we took a short low dollar turn with the dice with no luck and had a bite of dinner and went to bed.

Wed was a day to play. Did not run into many people but we did have several turns at the dice table at 3 different casinos. Really not too much to write about except to say that we each had a roll in the mid to high teens which were money makers, but way too many short rolls so had a net loss at this point. To top it off most all of the chicken feeders were making the five count and although we were only betting $10 with single odds on them, the dollars lost do mount up. Colored up to go and lick our wounds.

That afternoon things begin to pick up. We rolled some more with Rose rolling a great 24 while banging out the 6’s and 8’s. Old Doc not to be out done had the prettiest point 7 out. You guessed it sometimes the best man for the job is a woman. Second time around Rose continued with a nice roll in the teens and Doc followed up with a teen as well. Still too many horn numbers but this brought us to near even and we were happy with that. That night the tables were packed and that was it for Wednesday.

On Thursday we had set up beginning at 9:00 am and we had a lot to do and it took up most of the day. Played a little that afternoon and evening with out much success so called it a night.

Friday morning we were able to get things going. Doc opened with a roll in the 30’s and a little later Rose had a nice profitable roll in the 20’s. Interesting thing happened to Doc. As we colored up the pit boss came over and tapped me on the shoulder. I was surprised and did not know that he might want. He asked "can I do anything for you." Somewhat shocked, Doc said "well a couple of buffets would be nice." He back in in couple of minutes with a $40 food voucher and said "thank you so much for taking care of my crew." Had a great mean in the sea food restaurant—total bill $41.50 and tipped the waiter $10. So learn from this experience–TIPPING DOES INDEED HELP.

It was time for the open house and a chance to meet old friends, make new friends and meet the new students and give them a little head start of what to expect over the weekend. Could not have been more fun. It was great to watch Mr. Finesse give the tune ups–he doesn’t miss anything. Just watching is a lesson for anyone paying attention. No Field Five had a full day of Elite Video and again any one can learn so much by observation. If you are coming to Vegas be sure to come to the open house.

The meet and greet that night could not have been better. We were packed into a rather small room but in his usual manner The Dominator was able to keep everyone’s attention and all had a good time. After Doc was introduced along with his team Rat Pact team, Doc laid down the challenge that The Rat Pack would beat Alligator Rose’s Good Time Rollers. More on this challenge later. Again a great evening. By the way–Dom lost the birthday wager as no 2 people had the same birthday. In my memory on 2 times is over 9 years.

Tables were crowned that night so we did not get much of a chance that evening.

Sat and Sun were pretty much devoted to the classes with very little action in the casinos.

A few notes from the class. Things went really smooth under the direction of Dom and Finesse. It is truly amazing to see the improvement from Sat morning at first throwing stations to Sunday afternoon when we prepare for the no 7’s contest. We compliment the students for their dedication and attention to detail as we went from station to station. One thing we observed was how well the students–primers and refreshers alike–took to heart our betting strategies. They did the 5 count, did come betting, with a few place bets on the 6 and 8 and most made money during the student live play. Most impressive. It was easily seen after the class was over in the casino.

Now to the no sevens contest. As you all know we encourage trash talk And trash talk was given. One young lady who had spend several years in the army and was stationed in Afganistan (or how ever you spell it)–was rolling, Midnight–who was stick man–was really funny giving her a hard time. She set down the dice, looked at him and said with a hard look and a smile on her face "the government has trained me to kill people." Talk about laughter. The look on his face—PRICELESS. Really a lot of fun.

The no 7’s contest continued with Mark from Rose’s team finally rolling a very nice 18 dice looking good. Then Larry from Doc’s team–the last roller–came "to bat." He begin to roll. As time went on the tension got high. A little nervous but dice looking good. Doc thought Rose would probably win. But Larry kept rolling. Finally he did roll his 18th roll and with the next roll he would be a winner. You guess it is was a 7. Contest over. We congratulate Mark and Larry on their fine rolls. What a great way to end a fun, entertaining and learning weekend.

Sunday night nothing would really happen in the casinos as all were tired.

Monday would be a good day for us. Most GTC’ers had already left for home but that morning Doc had a great roll in the high 30’s and Rose a little later a nice one in the 20’s. That would be it pretty much for the trip as we decided to lock up a small 4 figure win and head to Philadelphia early on Tuesday for our flight home.

Vegas in a little less that 2 weeks. Looking forward to seeing everyone then.

Rose and Doc

Hey Rose and Doc,

Thanks for sharing and good to see an overall positive by the end and a good reminder that this thing we do is not a guarantee. It is funny to me that some have issues with what we do even when they see we can point 7 sometimes but they don’t have any issue with the person that plays Yatzee with the dice for 5 mins before throwing. 😀 😀

I was hoping to see y’all again in Vegas but due to a house closing it doesn’t look like the timing will work out. Was really looking for my Refresher after taking the Primer in Vegas a year ago. Looks like I will have to wait until early next year for the next class.

Enjoyed playing with you all last year and getting to know y’all a little. Enjoy Vegas and looking forward to your next trip report.

Hello Doc:

Thank you. Dropserve and I both read this with great interest and learned a lot.

I take three things away from your report:

– Never give up;
– Take enough bank to get through a bad patch;
– and Tip.

Would you please expand on your tipping practices?

We will be at the class in Las Vegas in a couple of weeks, and will see you and Alligator Rose then.

Thanks,
ScarletGold

Doc
Great report. Thanks for posting it.
I have to say you have really stepped up and become a very prolific poster. I see by the comments that the students really appreciate all your efforts at the classes.
Usually I would see something about a promotion at the AC class did anyone move up the ranks?
Also did u get to any good restaurants. I am always looking for a good place to eat.

Scan, we are pretty much food court, coffee shop and buffet type people. Yes we will take a comp for upscale steak house when offered. Whitehouse subs are great as well.
