Vegas in August

Spread the love

This is the first of the reports of my trip to Vegas to play in a VP tournament.

We drove from Los Angeles on Sunday and spent the night with Sally’s brother prior to driving on the Las Vegas Monday morning. Traffic was fairly light and driving the spped limit got us to Nevada right after noon. Sally and I split the driving and stop once to get something to drink and change drivers.

I took over again at Primm and we drove on to the first casino on the outskirts of Vegas. Sally always has a small slot play and likes to play some of the VP games there. Uneventful drive which is the way we like it.

Three others at the table and I check in at SR1. All the CFers qualify and and I make 40 on the first one who was throwing when I got there and bought in after he made a point. Next two shooter had 14 and 12 with the first one making one points and the second one making two points. Gave back half my winnings on the second shooter and lost one white on the third shooter.

Before the dice got to me, the guy at SL1 had left so I moved to SL1 to shoot. My comeout was an eight and I rolled 4 field numbers and one five before rolling a 4-3. So I didn’t collect on any of my rolls and now was in a losing position.

There now were six people at the table, only one qualified and I lost my bet on her. The others had rolls of 4, 4, 3, and 2. My next roll started with a hard 6 and lasted for nine more rolls. I was using comebet and since I rolled 3 fours the amount of my loss was only two white, even though I didn’t make any points.

There were only two CFers and they had rolls of 4 and three so I didn’t lose any money on them. My comeout again was the hard six five rolls later, including two 8s, I made the point. Next point was the five which it took some time to hit. Came out on the four which I didn’t make. Total count was a roll of 39 which included the 8 and six both 8 times other than the come out six.

Sally approached the table as I finishing up and I left almost doubling my buy in and we called it quits.

Rather than go the hotel we were staying at, went to register for the VP tournament we were playing in the next two days. Table was empty so I bought in, come roll was an eight which I and I made right back and followed up with another come out 8. Three rolls later the deven showedand I had lost signle digit.

Next comeout was an eight again and eleven rolls later the seven showed again for another loss of single digits.] Next comeout was again an eight and again I rolled 11 more times before the seven showed. Since I was making continuous come bet three sixes and three nines, this time I was ahead one double digits. Next two rolls were only a 4 and 3, so I lost on both of them even with two comeout sevens , which I was setting for on the 4 roll. The point after the two comeout 7s was also an eight but the next point was a 10. Followed up those two rolls with a point seven, with the point again being an eight.

Decided to change to the other empty table though there was no logical reason to do so, since the crew where I was were good. Nevertheless, I put together a roll of 18 wit only making one points, but rolled enough repeaters to recover all my losses at the other table and a high double digit more. I had been joined by one CFer and he qualified and I lost a little on his roll. While he was rolling another person had come to the table and when I started my next roll he was betting the don’t. I started that roll with a comeout seven followed with acomeout 5 which I repeated two rolls later. My next 5 comeout rolls were 4 7s and one craps before a comeout 8. That roll in total was a 13 that I made just a little on.

Decided to call it quits and when to the strip hotel we were staying at to check.

More later, hope you enjoy

Good report. Glad to see many of the GTC principles being followed. Only wish Rose and I could hook up with you and Sally. Will you be in Vegas in October for the class weekend.?

Hope to see you soon.
