New York state has authorized up to four casino licenses to be divided among three regions: the Albany-Saratoga area, the Southern Tier-Finger Lakes region and the Catskills and mid-Hudson River Valley. The proposals in each region vary in size and scope as developers seek the right fit for the local market:
CATSKILLS AND MID-HUDSON RIVER VALLEY: With its proximity to New York City, this region boasts the biggest plans and the most competition.
– Sterling Forest Resort, Orange County. By Genting Americas. Investment: $1.5 billion.
– Montreign Resort Casino, Sullivan County. By Empire Resorts. Investment: $1.1 billion.
– Caesars New York, Orange County. By Caesars Entertainment. Investment: $880 million.
– Resorts World Hudson Valley, Orange County. By Genting Americas. Investment: $830 million.
– The Live! Hotel and Casino, Orange County. By Cordish Companies and Penn National Gaming. Investment: $750 million.
