Rose and Doc practice most everyday at the table in our home. But practice is practice and never the same as when you are risking real money in the casino. Yes we have the bank roll to bet at the level we do. We don’t worry about the money in the casino so much but it is a little different with the crew watching, the eye in the sky, drunk and rude players, the noise in general, etc.
By the time we get to AC next month it will have been almost 3 months since we last hit the casino as grand kids and activities here at home have kept us home. We are at least a 3 hour flight to the nearest casino—6 hours by car so going frequent trips are difficult at best. It seems that the first couple of sessions when we arrive are just different from the really relaxed atmosphere we develop later in the trip.
The only solution we have found is to simply bet very low the first couple of times with the dice until we settle in for the trip. We usually don’t hit the tables until the day after arrival since we are tired.
Just some thoughts that we wanted to share with the members of this board. Any comments others will have should be interesting.

I totally agree that the casino experience is much different than the day to day practice sessions due to the things you mentioned such as the other players and crew. I try to combat some of this at home by making sure I have a lot of background noise and having my husband talk to me during my practice sessions especially the week before I go to the casinos. Unfortunately, I only get to make semi annual trips right now to play Craps.
I have finally learned and have the discipline to NOT play on my travel day and I have no problem walking away from a table at any time if my dice are not looking like they normally do.
I guess the only difference for me is the low bets you mention for your first couple of sessions. I don’t necessarily agree with that, for me anyway, as I have had some of my best tosses early in a trip and would have missed out on the profit by betting those sessions low. I think if I am truly betting within my bankroll and understand the variance involved in dice control and Craps in general then I am just hurting myself by trying to time betting low or regular sessions depending on where I am in a trip.
Think everyone should use what has worked best for them historically so if betting low for a couple of sessions relaxes you then that is just what you should do. Just might not be the right fit for everyone though.
Good luck in AC next month!

If not then oh well I have not put out much in the way of losses.
Also do this when I might not be feeling my best, or just want to get a feel for the table.
All the practice in the world does nothing if mentally you are not ready to perform.
My 2 cents… :ugeek:

The best thing to do is practice your grip. You want to be sure you grip the dice with an extremely light grip. You only need to hold them tight enough to keep the dice from falling out of your hand. Be sure your thumb and middle finger are centered with equal pressure on both die. You want to check your fingers to be sure they are straight across.
The better your grip before the primer, the more you will get out of the class.
