I was surprised to Learn that a PUT Bet can be a BETTER bet than a PLACE Bet. I was listening to the latest YOU CAN BET ON THAT podcast. They were discussing craps bets. They explained how a Put bet can played to pay of substantially better than a Place bet.

This is with the same sized wager!!

I do not want to try to explain it as I may mess it up. You can listen on iTunes or the link below.

PLEASE let me know what you think of the strategy.

Scan,

Some thought, put bets are not allowed in AC. Put bet are advantageous only if you can take 5 times outs or more.

I have seen them used in Tunica, although some of the casinos would not allow them.

I had one player I played with that routinely took at least 10x odds and used put bets most of the time.

With sufficient bankroll they can reduce the house advantage a lot.

Scan,

I think the easy way to look at this is the way I explained it in a previous post on this subject.

I have used Chuckman’s method to determine whether to make a put bet or place bet when I am at venues with 10X odds or greater. The simple answer is determine which pays more, the put bet or the place bet. Make the bet that pays more. Yes, you are risking the base bet on future come out rolls with the put bet that you are not risking with the place bet. But if the payout is better and you are a good shooter it is probably worth the risk.

As a point of reference, I would not make the put bets right after throwing the seven on the come out roll. I would do it after I establish my point. There is no reason to have the base bet at risk until after the point is established just in case you throw another seven on the same come out roll. I would not have given them the fifteen dollars right then and there. I would take the odds back and make the put bets I want to make after establishing the point.

Best craps game in Vegas used to be at Casino Royale. Situated between harrahs and the Venetian. They used to offer a $3 game with 100x odds and put bets allowed. Was the sweetest game around. Unfortunately they have tightened up a bit. Now it’s $5 game with 20x odds. Still one of the better games in Vegas.

I was at harrah’s last month and actually played at casino royal and did had $3 tables with I believe 10x odds. I did decent, but you have to battle with all the chicken feeders! I also have, played at circus circus during the day and did good and even hit the come out bets or proposition bet of the low, all, or high. Hit the high and was a number short of the low, which includes the all.
