Shreveport Bossier City Video Poker

Spread the love

This is a HUGE shot in the dark, but do any of you know if there are any full pay Jacks or Better machines at any of the casinos in Shreveport / Bossier City. If so, I’d love to know the ‘coordinates’. Going over there in a few days and will be trying my luck there. Since this kind of involves casino conditions, you can email me off the board … or not.

Thanks.

Did you check VP Free.

They show that kind of info by casino.

Noi haven’t checked S/B though.

Noah –

I’m new to trying to play VP for an advantage, so no, but I will.

One question I have, and Stickman doesn’t address it in the book: What buttons do you push on the poker machines to find out whether or not the particular machine is full pay or short pay or something else to stay away from entirely. The pay tables all show the same return for the coins, but the variance lies in the way the machine is programmed, so where do I find that when I sit down at a particular Jacks or Better machine?

TVM.

Alamo,

There is no button to push that will answer that. The variance comes from the normal dealing from a 52 card deck, not from programming like in slot machines

You have to look at the pay schedule on the machine to determine what is a full pay machine. If you don’t have a book describing VP, Frank has written some good ones. I would recommend reading about VP on the Wizard of Odds website.

If you have a smart phone, there are numerous apps, some of which are free, that you v]can practice play on.

Later Ill see what I can see about VP in S/B maybe tomorrow.

Alamo,

I see I should have suggested www.VPFree2.com. There are some 50c and $1 machines in S/B. Ialso recommend that you read about VP on the Wizrd of Odds site. You can practice play on that site also.

If you want to talk about VP, PM me your phone number and I’ll call you if you suggest a time. Keep in mind that I now live on the west coast.

Thanks for the response. Yes…I did discover the VPfree site and it has been pretty informative. And, having been reading a ton, I do now get your comment on variance and know to look at the Full House/Flush payline to find the 9/6 or 8/5 JOB machines. (See, I’m even using some abbreviations now!). I’ve been advised on several sites to get familiar with JOB and learn the correct way to play before moving into DBP etc. Also, the reasons why different personalities play different VP games and for what reasons.

I’ll ping you with a text and let you know when to give me a call…at your convenience. I’ve got kids on the left coast, so I get the 2 hour differential issue.

We’re also going to try to find a deserted Pai Gow table and see if we can get a friendly dealer to at least show us the basics, play a few hands for us, etc., and try to learn that game too.

I’ve got excellent discipline and methods for making and keeping winnings at craps, but I’m not sure what the expectations ought to be for VP or at what profit level to walk. VP seems more like a time killer that includes a chance to hit a nice win or two if you play right, while craps is more like an ambush where you hope to destroy the enemy with a massive, overwhelming strike and then disappear into the jungle. So locking the profit in VP seems to entail different strategies, especially if you’re sitting at the bar killing time with friends, etc. But, I’ll figure it out.

Again, much thanks for the help.

I think I got a message off to you. The PM interface isn’t real clear and I have never initiated a PM from the site. Let me know if nothing comes through.
