AC REPORT AIR SHOW

Spread the love

Wednesday, 8/13, was Thunder Over the Boardwalk in AC, an annual air show. An average of 600,00-800,00 people arrive to watch it from the beach or the boardwalk. It can take hours to drive down the AC Expressway with all the bumper-to-bumper traffic, so we went on Tuesday. Tuesday is also the practice run, so we went to watch in case it rained on Wed., and the craps table was full in any case.

On Tuesday afternoon we each had a 20 roll, but then the table filled up, and we went to play Pai Gow, where Mr. Finesse met up with us while Mrs. Finesse played video poker. Wednesday morning Sandtrap and I played early. He tossed one 21 roll, and I had a 6, 10, and 11, but they were all money makers.

We then met Mr. and Mrs. Finesse to take a taxi to Trump Plaza where we would look for a place to get a seat for the air show. The restaurant we usually sit at was already filled up at 10am. There were hundreds of police on the boardwalk, and a naval ship in the water. The air space and water near the beach were closed to the public. You couldn’t see any sand for all the people on the beach. When the National Anthem was played, everyone stood up, and they were amazingly quiet. The Golden Knights parachuted down with the American flag.

Then the Coast Guard did a rescue demonstration with helicopters to retrieve someone from the ocean.
This was followed by barrel rolls with 4 point hesitation. There was a 6 plane formation, at which Sandtrap said, “What’s the big deal? Birds do it all the time.” However, it was a big deal to see how close they flew. Then a Harrier arrived, hovered over the water, stopped, backed up, and then flew straight up. It was an amazing sight. By this time, it was 1:30 and the sun was getting hot. Mr. and Mrs. Finesse had already left, and we followed suit.

It turns out that Dice Pilot knows two of the pilots flying who were flying in the show.

Thursday morning I had one 15 roll, and that was it. In the afternoon I tossed a 14, 22, and 23. I also did very well at blackjack. Sandtrap and Mr. Finesse played once together, but for the most part we got up too early for him, and then the tables got crowded later. Mr. Finesse said he also did very well at blackjack on Thursday. Altough we didn’t get much craps times in, this was a fun trip.

If those 600,000 people would play in the Casino’s they probably would not need to close them !! 😮

This post reminded me of the movie Groundhog Day! 🙂

Aviation and craps sounds like a great weekend to me. Did the Blue Angels or the Thunderbirds get cut from the show?

I have two good photos, if someone can tell me how to post them here.

The Blue Angels were not there this year, although they were in the past. The Thunderbirds were. Do groups get paid to do this? The show was sponsored by the AC Commission, some of the casinos, and others. Perhaps the Blue Angels were too expensive?

Goddess, You brought up an issue that I have had in the back of my mind to the fore front. You said you had money making rolls on a 6,10,and 11 rolls. Did you first of all 5 count. I and betting you did not. If not, could you please relate how you made money on those rolls especially the 6. I am obviously betting challenged and need an expert to tell me how it is done. Thanks a bunch, Professor

Hi Professor. I do not count myself. If the 6 and/or 8 are not my point, I place bet them. I do tend to hit them, so If I do, I make money even on short rolls. All the instructors will tell you that you can make money on your own short rolls. The 6 roll is particularly short, but any roll can make you money on your own shoot. You have to have confidence in yourself. Remember, this is a journey. You should be relying on yourself to make money.

If I am uncertain about how the first toss feels, then I throw out a come bet, and it invariably winds up on the 6 or 8. However, I am a place better, and not a come better. I do not have the bankroll to support full odds betting on repeating come bets. I raise one unit at a time after profit is in my rack. Stickman proved mathematically that one unit raises until the 7th hit make more money than press and pull for 7 hits.

I do practice in the room before going down. And I check my form in the room mirror in terms of my back swing and forward follow through. Most rooms have long mirrors, and this is also what I suggest my students have at home. I have a long mirror behind my receiving station, and I work on component parts. When I feel they are going well, then I put the entire throw together.
