Author is Thomas Kida
I might be late to dinner on this one as I believe it was published in 2006 but this is my first read of this book.
I have been going slow as there is a lot of good thought provoking info in this book. I find it relates to most things in life and actually a lot of it could be important to our philosophy about gambling and betting. I am a bit of a skeptic in my thinking anyway so I am enjoying the read.
Author lists the 6 basic mistakes he thinks we make in our thinking which are:
(1) We prefer stories to statistics
(2) We seek to confirm
(3) We rarely appreciate the role of chance and coincidence in life
(4) We can misperceive our world
(5) We oversimplify
(6) We have faulty memories
and then he goes on to discuss each problem. Didn’t agree with everything he had to say but very good points to think about and I did see myself in many of his presentations.
Think this would be an informative read for many of you although I would also have a good fiction book going at the same time so you can switch back and forth. Don’t think this is the kind of book that many of us would just sit down and read straight through but I could certainly be wrong on that.
Enjoy!
