What does it feel like?

Spread the love

hey guys,

What does it feel like, to you, your swing/throw?

I can tell you, for almost 2 yrs, before my Refresher in Vegas, my swing felt like a heavyass pendulum, like my dice are traveling in opposite direction of a strong rubber band. It worked in practice, and the particular bouncy table I practice on. In Vegas Refresher, I’ve been described to have a nice soft touch with the dice. I thought I was decent at the time. However, I didn’t take a Refresher to stay the same.

Then came the actual class. Everything was about to change about my swing.

Minute but noticeable changes were made to stance, grip, finger placement, set up, arm, and swing… In summary, everything about my swing changed. THEN, the action on the dice changed. Towards the end of the week, rotation on dice was present, the way they landed improved ( so I’ve been told) and dices were flying together better. I started to get the praise I lacked most of the weekend, towards the end of the last day. Not that I was fishing for praises, but really, wondering, " am I getting better, at all? am I on the right track? how does this look?"

A KEY advice that I’ve heard is, " Just LET IT GO". or, " Let it go", or, " don’t be afraid to throw it hard ( harder?)"
It’s a new concept to me, or one that I’m trying to refine and get better at.

I believe how I initially threw the dice, was almost like babying the dice. That’s how soft they were able to be thrown. yes, hitting the back wall, more than most times… Someone said to me, don’t try to control the dice, you have to let it go.

to paraphrase at least…

Let me know if any of you guys can relate, or understand what I’m talking about. My old swing, felt like a heavy pendulum, very soft with the dice. My new adjusted throw, better action on the dice, but I haven’t zeroed in yet on what I’m doing correctly, feeling-wise at least. alright, hope this makes sense. Thanks for reading!
