Craps

Vegas day one, and thoughts

Spread the love

Left Denver Monday on the heels of a spring snow storm. Arrived in Sin City to another bright spring day. Have a connection thru EZ car rental who made our car reservation for us. Unfortunately, EZ not being to big in this market we waited 45 minutes for a car. Next time going back to Dollar for my walk up and drive option.

This trip we are staying in one of the larger Strip locations. Nice after staying off Strip the past several years. Bigger rooms, more eating, an playing options. Just a better experience for not much more per day. Haven’t played here thought $15 bj and $10 craps seem to be their thing.

Played one long session yesterday, Tuesday, nothing remarkable to report. Started out looking like I had a real stinker on my hands down 2/3 of my buyin after 3 turns with the dice. Two or three other player for most of the time, 5 counting them with come bets and single odds.

On my forth touch of the dice things settled in an I started throwing usable numbers and I gained some ground. This hand was in the high teen but since I don’t concern myself with counting I can’t swear to any roll count. From that point forward I continued, the next four were as good or better but none getting into the 30’s.

Then along come this "Gentelman" to SR 1, half ass drunk, half ass knowing what he’s doing and all ass obnoxious. Middle of what is shaping up to be the break thru roll. All the numbers are covered with the 6 an 8 at $30 and this asshole starts an argument with the dealer and box over some pissant $2 prop bet. Just as the dice are slid to me. Every thing is lined up for me, a Buffit tune playing in the background and I’m real relaxed. But I couldn’t tune this jerk out. I had started to set up and backed away to regroup. The box looked at me and I gave him a WTF stare. He shrugged, said sorry Steve go ahead and shoot. Silly ass me, what did I do …… Rather than say no you guys settle this first or at the least calling all my bet off …. I threw the GD dice. No need to tell you what the outcome was is there. We’ll the box monster flys around the table and tells jerkoff to go away then he comes over to me and almost kisses the ring.

One more turn is a quick point seven and I color up with a $12 profit. At least not the stinker I though I had by the tail.

Upon reflection it’s apparent I need more focus and attention paid to when and how to press or increase my bets. It doesn’t make scenes to waste a good roll with a non profitable outcome. If or when Dom and GTC decide to dedicate a class specifically to betting I will be one of the first attendees.

Playing solo is another issue I have reflected on during this trip. While I pulled the fat out of the fire yesterday by myself it’s not a certainty that I could do it today if need be. Although like skiing and bowling, the more successive days you string together the more your muscle memory refines. Two GTC practitioners at the same table gives you a better chance to win than individually. Not a massed table takeover mind you, in the short run this could give high profits, but in the long run it can cause hard feeling that gets the higher profile individual in the group 86ed. How about it Dom, Mr.F, Skinny ever see that happen.

We’ll off to another day in LV. More soon.

Nice read. Unfortunately, we can’t seem to get away from those morons. They are all over the place. My best advice to you is call your bets off when your not feeling it. There is nothing like saying "I’m off" and then throwing the 7. You feel like a genius. Then regroup and wait for your next turn. You will be in better spirits and hopefully have a nice roll. Good luck today and keep us posted.

Of late I have been playing only team shooting. It limits the possible number of jerks at the table and really increases my odds of being on the plus side. Another plus is I get to converse with some of my fellow dice control followers.

It is hard for me to play at a table where I’m the only GTC-er. My discipline still needs to be kept in check and not bet on all the CK’s. I still crave "action". But I’ve been winning that battle.

Stay the course !!! Good luck on the rest of your trip.

Day 2 …. Was finally able to meet up with B-Man. As I suspected 2 GTC practitioners feed off each other and are able to work the table. There were several very good throws between us and I managed the money issue much better, coming back from a small lose Tuesday to a fair profit today.

Many things have changed since I first started coming to this wonderful, evil city. The worst is traffic, it’s almost impossible to drive the strip no matter the hour. Pedestrians cross wherever they like, out of staters drive as if they are in a free for all and the cabbies/limo drivers disregard any and all traffic laws. I’m surprised anyone gets out of here alive.

I love and hate this city all in the same sentence. I love the relaxation pool side and I hate the crowds. And mid week doesn’t offer any respite from them anymore. What is a recluse to do.

One more day and back to the grinder.

More tomorrow …

Hang in there ….enjoy LV

Tune out all of the morons and Focus on YOUR game

Take the bets down to table minimum if any trouble (or morons) takes place at the table

Remember, you are the professional shooter…..just KICK their BUTTS !!!
