Number of Rolls Per Craps Table

Spread the love

Talked with a friend of mine the other day about how the casinos are changing. He is a dealer at one of the larger casinos and has worked at a few other well know ones. He was telling me about one casinos bad reputation for comps and how it caused it to be bought out by another casino. They didn’t want this bad reputation. Wow. He told me that the casinos are being pushed to have x number of rolls per table per hour for craps play. Some casinos are not down sizing due to money issues but due to not being perceived as a monopoly in certain areas of the country. He’s loaded with information. 😉

Really have a distain for the stick men that push the dice to the shooter before all bets have been posted and other issues resolved (disputes) about payout, bet, presses. I understand they are trying to speed up the game. The more bets made the more money they make off their edge. It does disrupt ones concentration as people are still having their hands out on the table trying to make bets.

I just don’t pick up the dice and often make comments like "there are still bets being placed". I will slow it down to my pace.

I agree with you fully. I think he said 240 rolls per hour per table is the minimum needed. Some stickmen should never have a stick. I remember having a good roll going and they switched the stickman three times. The third stickman was doing exactly what you are saying. Not only that but he would slide the dice past me and also move the dice to the middle of the table so I would have to reach. I was having no trouble before he arrived because I was making bets for the dealers. This guy didn’t realize that I making money for him. He stopped messing with me once the other dealers jumped him. 😀

A roll every 15 seconds lmao.

I believe the number they are looking for is between 60 and a hundred

15 seconds per hand might be slow video poker, but it would be high speed craps. 😆

EagleEye The next time you are in a casino take 15 min. and count the rolls them x times by 4 .
Then you will know how fast That casino is for that crew working . It depends on the crew more then the rollers some times .
Some times it is like craps 101 going on other times it seems like I am taking to long to set .But when the roll gets long you can really tell the good dealers from others .
Good Rolling. 🙂 🙂

Rolls x 4, Finisher

There are 4 – 15 min. in an hour get it . I did not think you wanted to stand around and count the rolls for an hour . Just a thought . I think that you will find that different crews go faster then others and then there is the number of players at the table . Let alone the different betting going on .
A good example is one dealer will know all the bets coming into the prop area before they come in while the next dealer has no clue until a dealer tells him what the dollars are for .
One dealer will give you your win on a come bet . ( ALL ) While another dealer will place your come bet back and give you the rest of your winning . These things all take time to do .
I think that even if you were the only one at the table rolling it would be hard to roll 240 rolls in one hour .Try it at home if you don’t believe me .
I have seen rollers hit the back wall with the dice 3,4 and 5 times at times before shaking the dice then throwing them which takes time .
As the roll gets longer and longer the roll per hr. will go down .
The casino would like you to get to roll every 15 or 30 min when you are on a full table . 🙂 🙂
Good Rolling.

I think more likely that is a goal based on a combination of players at the table and rolls. Probably players times rolls. So if there are 4 betting players at the table they would want a roll per minute. 4 players x 60 rolls in an hour = 240. 12 players at the table they would be happy with a roll every three minutes.

Wild conjecture on my part, but it makes the number more realistic.

Only comment we have is we must remember that on every bet on the craps table, the casino has an edge in the long run–of course the odds bets is an even bet. The casino wants to have lots of quick rolls so that they get to the "long run" quicker and there edge will win out over the players. Sometimes if a table gets "hot" it takes a little longer for them to get there, but the math says they will get there. In our opinion that is the main reason for the crew rushing you to roll faster—to get to the profitable bottom line a little quicker.

Just our $.02 worth.

It’s 100. Thanks Finisher. High speed craps. 😀

EagleEye I take it that you counted the rolls for 15 min. then times it by 4 to get 100 ? Was there many players at the table ? Also were they making Prop bets ?
Were there any dice setters ?
See how this can vary .
I would not worry until they start Yelling . 🙂 🙂
Good Rolling. 🙂 🙂

Rolls per hour, hands per hour, and roulette spins per hour are very important to casinos. That is the way they figure what their drop will be and then their profit
