Round #2 – Assault on the HMS Bounty-ful

Well, the second planned raid on the HMS Bounty-ful was another success. There were limited casualties (1) amongst our troops. Old man Steve left early before the action heated up as he reached his loss limit. Same scenario as the last raid took some flack early but countered with a battle ending flurry from “Hard Way Joe”. Captain “Scooter the Shooter” assembled four amply armed, combat ready shooters for the raid. All shooters showed skill, just not sustainable in the early stages. I could see from the previous throws the dice were flowing very nicely from Hard Way Joe’s motion. He was hitting his target consistently. We were approaching high noon and were debating on lunch venue. I told the troops one more time around then we’d break off the attack. Dice were approaching stick right two. The Art-ful Dodger made a couple of numbers then hit a chip – seven out. My roll (stick right 1) provided us with more ammo to continue the battle. Hard Way Joe was next at stick left 1 with Tim behind him at stick left 2. The dice never made it to Tim. Hard Way Joe proceeded to have one of those EPIC (capital letter) rolls. The Artful Dodger and I politely mentioned to the hook positions to clear HWJ’s landing area. Their compliance was rewarded over the next hour and 10 minutes. I don’t often play with the middle prop bets, but seeing HWJ’s mechanics and results from two previous throws I decided to take the risk. Several numbers and a few points were made early, both the 6 & 8. Both of these points concluded with hard ways. Twenty minutes in our initial buy in were recouped and then some. The next point was a ten (6&4). During this point cycle a hard 4, 6, 6 & 8 were thrown. I, along with numerous others were pressing these bets. Yep, you guessed it, the point cycle ended with a hard 10. The next two points were both made within 6 throws. That combo was 9-5-9 / 5-hard 4 – 5. Two 11’s were then thrown on the come out. Pass line payouts are always a bonus especially at a $10 table. None of my come-bets were taken down by a come-out seven. That again is a plus. HWJ then proceeded to hit the 4 several times during the next point cycle, alternating between easy and hard four. It did not matter much as I had reached odds limit on the come bet. I had to increase the flat to increase the odds portion. Once I reached 4 units ($20) on the flat with 3x odds HWJ hit this 3 more times. Those are nice payouts with two hard ways mixed in.
The middle prop bet area did not resemble the Great Plains. Instead the terrain resembled the foothills of the Rockies, mounds were everywhere. Play was slowing as it takes extra time to play, press and payout these prop bets. The slow play did not affect HWJ’s concentration. After each throw one could see relief in HWJ’s demeanor that he did not seven out, but was still in control of the dice. Excitement was high each time he hit another hard way. The action at the table resembled a feeding frenzy at the zoo. His concentration returned each time he picked up the dice. Somewhere around the 40 minute mark HWJ had completed the bonus bet (Small-Tall & All). HWJ’s $10 across along with Scooter’s $25 across were topics of discussion and calculations during the remainder of the roll. Several on-lookers were asking who had the greens on the bonus bet. The payout on that bet alone was $6,125.

By this time the table’s bank had been drained. No more reds or greens. After a point cycle was concluded play was stopped to cash in reds and greens. With all the stacks gone you could see the dust that had accumulated between them. One player mentioned to the pit boss to order a Dirt Devil to vacuum up the dust and clean the table. The pit boss cracked a smile. Some additional canisters of chip made their way to the table. This did not affect HWJ’s concentration.
HWJ’s final point cycle was again a 10 (6&4). When he established the point everyone pressed their existing bets. Sitting at stick left 1 it was like the chips were incoming arterial shells. When he did seven out there was a brief sigh followed by rounds clapping, word of “great roll”, slaps on the back and a hug and a kiss from Scooter the team captain. One player added to the revelry by yelling out “is that all you got”. This produced loud laughter and another round of applause.

As you have probably witnessed at some of your better table moments the payouts took some time to complete. Pit Bosses were busy entering in data to the table computers. I made sure the crew was compensated for their stellar service. Some chips went directly into their tip collector while some additional were placed on the hard ways as a reminder of HWJ’s EPIC roll.

This is another example of great team play. When you have experienced shooters at the prime positions it is difficult to not succeed. Reports from fellow “crappers” that were at the casino the next day indicated a bit boss said in a conversation there was a big win the previous day. The table paid out in the range of $40K. I know two of us approached 5 figure payouts with the other two in the 5K range. Another table participant at the payout window indicated he was up 9K. So the estimate is close by our calculations.

Again – special thanks to the staff of the September class in Chicago. Through this class the Chicago Hit Squad has been assembled, has experienced success, and is planning future “Assaults on the HMS Bounty-ful”.
Respectfully – Scooter the Shooter

Great report, and wish I would have been able to make it. I had real high hopes that it was you guys that did it when I heard about the great takings from a table. Hopefully I will be able to get in line on the next one, when and where ever it falls.
