Vegas trip report for March 26th and 27th

Spread the love

The only way I can describe this trip is WOW! Wow what great rolls and wow what a great time we had. I was able to get together with Tex, the Griz and got to meet Mark whose handle I can’t remember and who had to work some and missed a really great time.

Got in late Tuesday afternoon and the tables were packed most of the time. Tried a few rolls but none of us were really into it due to the table conditions and I think we were all down some by the end of the night. That first arrival lack of focus situation.

Started early at 6:00 a.m. with Griz and things started to pick up. Tex showed up shortly after and we were off to a great day. There were a few of the previous nights’ leftovers at the tables which weren’t to conducive due to chip piles in the landing zone and late bets etc. A few good rolls by Tex and Griz then off to breakfast. Then we tried to get our spots at another favorable casino but no luck. Decided to head Downtown and things started to pick up and pick up well. Bounced around a few places made a few bucks and then I, got to learn all about GTC from a guy instructing the crew at one of the places – I could not believe it and his roll looked like he must have missed part of the class he was describing in detail. The Pit person even told me I should listen to this guy as he knew what he was talking about. It was hard to stay around that casino and roll after what we had witnessed. Grabbed lunch- thank you Griz and went back to see if we could get into the casino up the street that was packed earlier and there were out spots. Tex and I hit stick L1 and L2 bought in and had the dice in short order.

Then it happened. Tex started to roll his official 38 roll which I had counted in the low forties, and he should be congratulated for a great performance. Especially because around roll 20 a big argument broke out at the receiving end of the table between some customers and the crew in regards to bets made and not made and not paid. Rolling stopped for five of more minutes and it was like a suites attack, heavies and all. I haven’t experienced anything quite like this and how fast large people suddenly appeared. There was a lot of money on the table at this point and this is what may have brought in all of the suits. Then cool calm Tex picks the dice up and starts rolling his way to 38+ – and things got pretty crazy. If only Tex had bet some hops and parlayed a few of the hardways he was rolling he would really have killed them but I did lose track of the six after he rolled it about twelve times and he was pressing it quite well. Tex 7’ed out on 39 and I decide that there was no need for me to roll at this point and most of the table headed to the cashier. The cages were even crazy at this point, my cashier asked me if I had just come from the craps table with my stacks of chips and then she called up stairs. Maybe they were worried about running out of money at the cage. There were some big bettors on the table when Tex was rolling.

Tex had had some nice rolls all along the way during the day but that was the killer. And I certainly can’t leave out the Griz, Mr. Steady, because he had been the money machine all day long between the short rolls-mostly mine. His steady rolls in the high teens and twenties were nice money maker all day long. And no matter where we were at or what was going on he tipped the dealers – a real class act.

Then there was me, Mr. Erratic short roller. I think I had my best roll when I decide to roll while blocking the landing zone for Tex and Griz. And who takes a roller serious setting dice, standing sideway and rolling from the far end? So only a few buck made on my 21 roll from the end though I did have nice rotation and the dice stayed together fairly well. It may have been a case of a blind squirrel finding a few nuts.

One of the absolutely best parts of this whole trip was the laughing, joking, people watching and running commentary, a great example of what can happen when GTC folks get together. We also had a great dinner at the Chart House, great wine and a super waitress Donna who added her own special fun to our table. She also had an assistant who mentioned that she would like to be part of Hangover 4. Not sure where that comment came from but I think she wanted to join the fun at our table.

All I can say is thanks to Tex and Griz for a great time and I appreciated you skill($$$) for sure. Can’t wait to do this again and promise to hold up my end of the rolls next time.

I think this statement says it all. The camaraderie and excitement that happens when GTC friends get together is priceless.

Great trip report about a great trip. It is thrilling to hear about your adventure.

Breeze,
It sounds like you all had a good time. Playing with GTT (Golden Touch Trained) players
that know and adher to the 20 commandments is a great time. Everyone has stories
About the idiots. While playing in AC this past week a ploppy was telling the dealer
that golden touch was in town and that The Dominator was here last nite. He must not
Know what we do because there were six of us at the table.
Keep up the practice and we will see you somewhere down the road.

Breeze –

I couldn’t have described it better, but you left out the part about where we were going to put you on my shoulders with a long coat like in the old movies and show up and you would tell the crew you were a 7 foot tall GTC player and a dice setter. Then came the jokes about weaving around all top heavy and then leaning out over the table and falling into the center of the layout while trying to throw the dice down the come line! I’ll bet that’s never happened! And let’s not talk about the ‘creepy’ stuff we were saying to Donna!

Like you, I couldn’t believe that yo-yo downtown explaining to the pit boss how he was setting the dice and that he was a Golden Touch Craps player! Then, even though his dice sometimes looked ok, he was drawing his backswing inside out and was consistently slicing into the center of the back wall on every throw! Never saw him make more than 8 or 9 rolls. The dice ended up in the far corner almost every throw. But, it ain’t my job to be a critic. God knows I’ve got problems of my own to work out. The behavior, however, was disconcerting to say the least.

All I know is that we NEVER had any heat anywhere we went. NONE. In fact during my roll when the big turbulence boiled up at the end of the table, it seemed like the Boxman was actually anxious to get the game going again! What really chapped by buns (just joking here) was when the pit boss gave me a comp slip later and told me that ‘shooters who roll over 40 get really nice comps’ but that I could probably get a hat with the comp I earned! It was good natured tease on his part. During the roll, I had kept telling Breeze I was going to make 50, and I guess he heard it. I was, in fact, a little disappointed to not crack the 40, which has been like my 4 minute mile. Like Breeze said, I might have rolled 40, but all we watched was the little counter that the casino used. We also noticed that they weren’t too careful with it. C’est la vie. Like Dom says ‘winning is the most fun’ and we had some serious laughs and good times.

I’ve been mentioning betting strategy on this board, and I have to say, I just don’t think I would have made as much money come betting because it just seems like come betting is a difficult way to get all the numbers in play. I started with a PL bet of $5 (no odds) and a $12 6 & 8. By the time I sevened out, every number was at least a $50 bet and the 6 was up to $210 and the 8 wasn’t too far back. I didn’t start pressing the 6 and 8 beyond $30 until all the numbers had a $10 bet on them and could be bumped to $25 on the initial hit. Four quick 6 and 8 hits fed that process. There was a whale next to Breeze, and I had to tune him out every time I hit a number, because I would be saying things like ‘make my six look like $120’ and the whale would be saying ‘go to $1500 on my six!’ Late in the roll I heard him calling presses in the $2K and $3K range! I felt like I owed him a good roll! With those kind of bettors at the table, I kept expecting some heat but it never came. One nice thing was that the whale and a couple of other shooters gave me tips…$200 from the whale, but I’m guessing he left there with well north of $20K. Cheapskate could have given me at least a grand! ; ) Another interesting observation, given the discussions on the board about Fire Bets and the All, Tall and Small. I don’t think I would have hit the ATS, because I just didn’t have enough junk to get the crap numbers filled in, and I don’t think I ever hit the Point the whole time. I seem to recall it was a 9 when the roll finished. Actually, I did hit one point, because I recall rolling a couple of come out 7s right after the argument at the end of the table. Still, I’m sure I never came close to the Fire Bet. Just an observation. Not much you can draw from one roll.

My next goal is to work up the guts to bet with larger units, and I suspect that will come in time. Really enjoyed the trip, gang!

Peace to everybody, and Keep On Rollin!

Hey guys wish I could have stuck out the rest of the adventure. Had a great time while we were together, might be worth working on another gathering. Maybe come down to Louisiana, my home base, good tables and crews and good food. 😎
