Craps

Duck hunting and Craps

Spread the love

Ok I need help. While duck hunting the last of December and 1st half of January my thumb on my shooting hand became cracked and windburn.
To the point it hurt to throw the dice. After my thumb healed, I can’t get my dice together again. The outside dice lags behind the other. I can’t seem to get them together once, so I can duplicate that throw. I helped my son, daughter, and son in law get their dice together but now, I can’t get mine together. ( Its embarrassing ) I use a mirror, practice my grip ( evidently the wrong grip ) and have used oie gripper to no avail. I’ll try anything. I have to get them together before Mr Finesse or Doc take 5 minutes in the April class and shows me what I’m doing wrong. LOL
Thanks in advance for your help

Corn Huskers Lotion 7 oz. $3.99 at Walgreens. I was amazed at how well this stuff works for the hands. I use a fine file for my finger tips and thumb. I find it helps me to feel the dice better. I wouldn’t tell you this if you weren’t a fellow GTCer.

Check the placement of the front fingers. Be sure they are straight across. You may have more finger contact with the outside die if it is lagging. Also be sure you have a light grip with the fingers. If you are gripping the outside die tighter that can also cause the lag. Also make sure your fingers are square to the back wall when the dice roll off them.

Review your DVD of the video elite class. See if there is anything there that might help you.

If your thumb is still cracked or not smooth, corn huskers lotion may help. Aquaphor or Eucrin are other topical ointments that fix cracked or burned skin. I would check with the pharmacist and ask him what he thinks is the best remedy.

I use to do physical therapy assistant work while in college many years ago. You should stimulate the wound (whirlpool with batadine). Make sure the whirlpool is cleaned good first. You can’t buy the antibiotic ointment that they use, but you can purchase a triple antibiotic ointment. Go to Walmart but don’t buy the generic brand. DO NOT pour hydrogen peroxide on the wound. Put hydrogen peroxide on a piece of cotton first and then apply to the wound. Hydrogen Peroxide poured over a deep/open wound can cause a heart attack. Clean the wound with the cotton and then put triple antibiotic ointment on the wound. Cover the wound with a sterile bandage or sterile bandaid. Repeat this for a few days. Sometimes you won’t even show a scar on cuts.

Tommy, I use A and D ointment. I have an old pair of cloth gloves–like grandma used in the garden–that I use at night. I put the ointment on my fingers and thumb and put the gloves on and leave over night. I do this for several nights in a row and it really seems to help. Do this several days in a row and then about 3 to 4 time a week. Especially after several applications the inside of the gloves get greasy so this will certainly soften your hands.

It has really helped me get the feel back in my fingers.

Got my ointment at Walmart—twice as much for half the price.

Duck hunting was great. And my lab pup made me proud. But now I need you to help me get my dice back together. LOL
Are you home from prospecting. We are ready for some gunslinger storys about the wild west.

Thanks to all who helped. Special tanks to Skinny and Doc for his personal help. He and Alligator Rose know a lot of the deficiency’n my toss quite well. My dice are looking better each day. Thanks again.
