Hey everyone was hoping i could get some opinions on this, I was reading another post and NFF had mentioned maxing your odds for best strategy as we all should know that is the best thing to do.
I have a question, letβs say your bank roll allows for an initial $105 spread. And you are playing in a 100X odds game. Letβs say your point is 4. Would you then just do a PL bet with 100 dollars as your odds bet? Just have that one bet since this would be the lowest house edge? Or would you spread it out using say 10x odds and have 2 bets at 50 odds each? By the math it would seem you should just do the one bet, but man that seems tough, but the math suggest you will lose less over time with that method. Thoughts?

The effective house edge with odds is:
0 x ODDS = 1.414%
1 x ODDS = .848 %
2 x ODDS = .606 %
3 x ODDS = .471 %
5 x ODDS = .326 %
10x ODDS = .184 %
20x ODDS = .099 %
100 x ODDS = .021 %
As your total amount in odds goes up the effect of reducing the house edge is diluted.
The math of the game says that with an unlimited bankroll you should place 100X odds all of the time on each and every PL or Come Bet.
Practicality has to come into play. At what point do I give up some house edge for an additional bet? This is an individual decision based on your demeanor and bankroll. I never play a 100X odds game. But if I were to play that game I would play it the following way. If I got to come bets all the way across I would begin to increase the odds from 5X or 10X to 100X incrementally.
The following applies only if I am betting on myself!
I am comfortable having a $150 spread when I begin a roll if I am on a good table that I know, and in good playing conditions.
If playing a 20X odds game I will do the following. On a $5 game, I will bet 10X odds and bet my usual PL and 1 or 2 Come Bets. I will increase the odds after I get 3 hits. I may incrementally increase the odds to $75 or $80 and then to $100 after the next hit of that come bet, or I may go right to the $100 in odds. That decision is dependent on how I my shot looks and how comfortable I feel. Once I get the odds to 20X with one of the come bets, I will make an additional Come Bet with $50 odds. When I get 2 come bets to 20X odds, I make another Come Bet. If playing a 100X odds game, I would not increase my Odds above 20X until I had every number with a Come Bet. At that point I would incrementally increase the odds until I got to 100X. The key is to rack a lot of chips before increasing the odds or making additional bets.
If a Seven comes along and wipes out my come bets on the Come Out roll, I start over with my progression. I say to myself, "Look at how much I just won" when I get all of my Odds back. Unless I was at the point where every Come Bet had 20X Odds, I would never go back out with 20X Odds as I rebuild the Come Bets. I would begin to build my Come Bets just as I did initially. I will be more aggressive in how quickly I increase my Odds after a hit though. If starting with 10X I will go to 20X on the next win. Once again I would sit at 20X until I get 5 bets back out there. By the way, when the Seven appears and takes down 5 come bets, I have almost never been able to get back out with another 5 Come Bets. To me, the Seven is an alarm that I should be cautious with my win. That is why I basically start my progression again. The only difference is that I will continue to make come bets every roll as I am well ahead of the game at that point.
If the game is a $10 game, I will cut my initial odds down to 5X and begin my progression from there until I get to the 20X odds level.
In any scenario, I will not increase my flat bet until I am at maximum odds. When I increase my flat bet I will generally do a full Odds press because I am well ahead at that point.

NFF gave a brilliant answer and a very in-depth explanation.

I vary seldom see any at any table no matter what the odds are .Most of the time I am the only one that is not on the pass line for every shooter .
I am at times the only one with one bet up tho . I have found at times that does take a lot of discipline .
I wonder how many on this site have tried it and what the results were ?
Even tho the math says it is best I think that it is to much risk . Itried the one bet thing with the 8 that I have talked about in other post but with little money at risk and did not do well .
One 8 was rolled in 42 rolls with 4 rollers rolling . I also realize that that was not the norm .But it was some thing that I tried for fun just to see .

How would you modify the described betting strategy with the common 3,4,5x odds found in a lot of Vegas casinos? Or would you not modify it? If you were comfortable with a $150 7 risk, I’m wondering about the concept of adding more points as you hit.

In a 3, 4, 5 X game I just start with $10 and full odds on the Pass Line. I will make 2 Come bets with full odds. If the 6 and 8 are 2 of the 3 bets, I will be a bit above my $150 spread, but I am OK with that. If 4 and 10 are part of it I will be a little under the $150. On the average I will still be at $150 for the spread.
I will add an additional come bet after I have 6 hits. At that time I will generally make additional come bet after 2 more hits until I have 5 come bets with full odds.
Once I have 5 come bets with the full odds I will begin to increase the flat bet by $5 and take full odds.
I hope this helps you.

That is good information. In fact, it is very similar to what I play, but I have long suspected that I have been too aggressive too early. For example, I usually put out 1 PL and two come bets, with full odds and go to 4 after just one or two hits. Sort of like the Big Skinny but not quite as aggressive. I was really surprised at your strategy of only expanding to 4 numbers after 6 hits. I’m assuming that if you make your point and then have a come out 7 wipe the board clean, you start the progression over? In my experience I don’t often get 6 hits out of a 3 number come bet strategy; however, when I do, it is nicely profitable.
Out of curiosity, do you play that way all the time or do you ever consider anchoring with the 6 and 8 and then making one natural number to compliment the 6 and 8? In other words, making the 6 and 8 the center of the play? If 6 or 8 is the come out point, place the sister and make a come bet. If the come bet hits the sister, convert the sister to a come bet and do another come bet until you have 3 numbers, always anchored by the six and eight. And if you don’t ever play a 6 and 8 game, what is the reasoning?
Thanks.
