Craps

Vegas trip report

Spread the love

So I was in Vegas for 8 days. Way too much time and way too much craps playing to give you a detailed report. So I’ll try to keep it short and sweet.

Day 1: We hit a snow storm leaving New York so We didn’t check into our hotel until almost midnight. Spent the entire night playing in our hotel. Up a little for the night!

Day 2: Got to sleep in which was nice. Spent all day Sunday playing. Had some nice rolls but nothing above 20. Five counted everyone else and still managed to lose for the day.

Day 3: Got up nice and early and started out with a high 20’s. There was only 3 of us at the table. The next guy had a lucky roll in the 20’s as well. Dice come back to me and I had another 20! So the morning started off really nice. I then met up with some friends who flew in for a pseudo bachelor party. None of them are controlled shooters but all love craps. They really wanted to go play crapless craps at the only table in Las Vegas. So I made dinner reservations for Top Of The World. Had a really nice dinner and then went to play. They let me take my position since they know what I am capable of. There was 9 of us, all friends at the table and no one else. A couple of the guys all shot and did absolutely nothing. Thank god for the 5 Count. I get the dice for the first time and I throw a whopping 3! WTF??? I am embarrassed and annoyed. Dice go around again and I get them back. Come out with a 3 as my point. 10X odds table and a $10 min table. I always back it up with full odds. 3 numbers later and I hit the 3. Everyone is happy. My next point is a 6. I put a come bet down. After a couple of minutes, I have 4 come bets plus my point. I start hitting numbers including the extreme outside numbers. So I finally buy the 2, 3, 11 & 12 for $25 each. After a few more numbers, I hit the 12. Pays me $150. I go to $75. I come right back with the 12 again. Pays me $450. I go to $150 and believe it or not, I come right back with another 12 for a $900 pay out. I hit several more numbers, unfortunately none of them being 12 and then 7 out. Very very profitable table. At this point we are all drinking and I know I’m about to lose my edge so the rest of the night was gambling instead of controlled shooting.

Day 4: Not nearly as exciting. I had to do some work during the day. Had a really nice dinner at Prime which is my favorite restaurant in Las Vegas. Then did some playing but mostly Blackjack since I was really tired and still hung over.

Day 5: My brother flew out to meet me for a few days. He hadn’t been to Vegas in 6 years. Anyone who goes to Vegas regularly knows that if you don’t go once a year, it is a completely different city. Linq!!! Amazing! Anyway, Really enjoyed getting to spend some time with him. We live 15 minutes away from each other yet never see each other. Had a nice dinner and then went to play some blackjack. Went on a lucky streak like you cant believe. I am a pretty good card counter, but it wasn’t necessary! Dealer would have a 6 showing. Flip over a 5 for 11, A for 12 and 10 for 22. This went on for 3 shoes. We both won a nice amount of money and enjoyed some time with him.

Day 6: So today is my losing day. I won’t recap too much because it was depressing! But I could not do anything right. I couldn’t get past 6 numbers to save my life. Luckily I had some appointments throughout the day which kept me out of the casino, however, it was still an ugly day for profits.

Day 7: My most enjoyable day. We get up nice an early and start out with a big breakfast. Then we rent dirt bikes and quads and go riding all day long. They bring us out the the edge of the desert where it meets the mountains and spend hours riding through the trails. Soooo much fun. We get back to the hotel and my upper body is shot. I take a 2 hour nap which totally refreshes me. Go have a nice dinner and then we all head downtown. Some of the guys have never been to Vegas before and wanted to see Fremont Street. I collect casino chips from all around the world and a new casino opened that I wanted to check out and get a chip from. We end up going to a casino right on Fremont that recently changed its name. I go to the craps table and its a $5 min with 10x odds. What I didn’t realize is they allow you to buy the 4, 5, 9 and 10 with a $10 minimum and the vig paid on wins only. What an awesome table for players who like to bet smaller amounts. I love the buying of 5 and 9. Only requirement is it must be an even bet amount. Did ok but nothing too special.

Day 8. Flight leaves at 11:00 PM. So I have all day to play. My brother really wants to go play 3 card poker so I say what the hell. We go in as partners but he is sitting playing. 3 hands in he gets a straight flush. raises his bet and next hand gets a flush. raises his bet and next hand gets 3 of a kind. raises his bet and next hand gets a straight flush again. SWEET!!! We play a little longer and then walk away with a nice profit. Go eat lunch at La Burger Brassiere. One of my favorite places to eat. Then I must go do some shopping for the MRS or next year I will not be able to come back. Head over to the Forum shops and get her a few nice things. Head back to the hotel, pack up and head downstairs. I have a 6:00 check out since I have the most awesome host. All the guys go get some sushi and I go to the tables. It is now the Friday before the Superbowl and the casino is starting to fill up. Table minimums are starting to increase and most craps tables are $50 minimums. A little high for me, especially if I am throwing the dice. But then again, its the last few hours and I am ahead very nicely for the week. I take up my spot and wait for the dice to come to me. Most of the dealers know me by name by now. So I’m chatting with them until I get the dice. Put my $50 on the line and establish a 6. Back it up with $250 and come right back with the 6. This goes on for about 20 minutes where all I do is make points. Barely threw any box numbers but made some nice money on the line. Got the dice again and this time was complete opposite. Went on a run of throwing 4’s and 10’s. Never made the point of 9 but mads a lot of money on the outside numbers.

So to sum it up, spent 8 days in Vegas. Ended up getting my entire room charge bill comped. Spent a decent amount of money for the week with my friends and spent even more money on my wife and kids and came hope with more then double my bankroll for the week. I consider that incredibly successful. Now I can’t wait for March to play with all my GTC friends in AC. Until then, stay warm, look forward to spring and good rolling.

Michael

Way to go Mike!

I was licking my chops as I was reading. This is how a vacation is supposed to go.

Mike — awesome report

love the Blackkack report and the crapless craps report was fun to read too — I really like that game when it’s a $5 table

These guys are great. Not too expensive and easy to deal with. They will even pick you up from your hotel if you need.
