This is mostly for the newbies but some of the rest of you may enjoy too. Another 10,000 and onward to 100K.
As of 2/1/14 I have rolled 90,000 documented practice rolls. It would have come sooner but I moved last year and had the table down for 3 1/2 months.
Saturday’s SRR was 12. I track monthly and every 6000 rolls. The longer period SRR is 8.27.
Each practice is 120 rolls using a modified Sharpshooter form from his book. I track each roll, left die and then right die. (example 4-6 and so forth) Other things I track are number of hardways, % of hands over 10 which now stands at 26+%, double pitch outs, point 7 outs, separately count rolls of 20, 30,
40 and 50+. I also track on axis, primary, secondary, double pitches, one die off axis (and right vs left die) and both dice off axis.
I also do a comparison of the night’s results versus an SRR of 9. Therefore you would have 7 2’s and 12’s, 15 3’s and 11’s, 21 4’s and 10’s, 28 5’s and 9’s and 35 6’s and 8’s, and 14 7 outs. This is not exact because there are fractions involved so I have rounded things to make calculating a little easier. I do all calculations by hand. When I reach 6000 rolls I calculate the average on axis rolls, average hand length, primaries, secondaries, double pitches, one and two dice off axis. I then average it with the previous 6000 rolls.
Practice time is about an hour unless I have a target practice before I begin in earnest. Calculations take about 20 minutes. I begin with a 7’s set then chase the point (this is NOT recommended by GTC) because it works for me. If the point is 4,6,8 or 10 then I use the 3V and for the 5 and 9 I use the 2V set. Sometimes if trying for the 8 I switch to the 2V because I have found I roll a lot of 8’s with it. Also many times for the 10 I will go to the hardway set.
Last October I caught the free analysis on Friday. I have incorporated what I was told to better my toss and since have changed one thing and that was the timing from grip to toss. Their ideal did not match my body rhythm and I went somewhere south till I changed and that brought about a big jump in results on the positive side.
Lately I have been doing some darkside practice from a non-GTC author. I have modified his betting to fit my bankroll and have had good success with it and have tried it in casino with good results there too. I prefer to play it when I have the table to myself and/or just a close friend along. In practice I have doubled my buy-in in about 20 rolls. It has been fun but I still prefer the right side.
Each of us likes different types and amounts of time for our practice but however you do it is right for you and absolutely imperative. Damn, it is cold outside and snowing and will be cold at least for 5 or 6 more days. Hmmm. I guess I can practice a little more.
Good practice and rolling

Your practice schedule is awesome. I do about 15-30 minutes per night. I focus on hitting specific numbers…..setting for hardways, etc., ….& finding ways to hit winners on come-outs

I just roll until I need to go some were or do some thing for wife .
I guess I should get a clock for my patio .I also turn on the radio some times .
The roll sheet that I use can record 180 rolls and I record all hard ways .field number .box numbers ,point wins 7s, and come out 7s . I too use 2 different dice so can record each one .Right die red left green .
My SRR IS LOW COMPARED TO YOURS . I start with a 66 on top with 55 facing me so get a lot of crap numbers . I still bet a world not a good GTC BET on come out .
At the bottom of my sheet I keep track of the numbers so at a glance I can see how the roll has been going .I use the roman way with this part seems to work better . Also started keeping track of tips and buy in . I think the dealers make more then me on short rolls . 🙁 🙁
Good Rolling. 🙂 🙂

OMG, this is quite a work ethic you have with some serious data. Keep up the great work. Your dedication is commendable!
Only one thing I want to comment on: Both you and Finisher are trying to hit a number other than a box number on the come out, my preference to that would be to bet the box numbers on the come out and see if you can hit them.
Several reasons as to why I do this.
1) I am trained to hit those numbers.
2) If hit, the payout is better than the 7 which pays even money.
3) If hit, the tax is much lower than any of the World, C&E, Horn or any other combinations.
4) Most importantly for me is that I always want four bets working, so if I work the even numbers on the come out and hit a 6 as the point, now the 6 comes down and becomes the odds bet, and still have 4 bets up. If the 5 or 9 comes as the point, one of the outside bets has to be sacrificed and comes down, while the other moves to the "play-side" of either 5/9.
Certainly there is a risk of ruin if a 7 is rolled on the come-out and all bets loose, but, there is a line bet that covers one bet or 25% and I still have the dice. After all dont we all want to play at a table where we can get the dice right back after a 7? We do that in practice don’t we?

After reading this post think I need to practice more .Will also keep track more with totals for year .
I am thinking of just starting with the hard way set with a dollar on any craps instead of the world for 5.00 .But for the 4.00 difference it does not seem worth it . Most people invest 2.00 on c/e .
Do you just make place bet .Hoping no crap number comes for a loss ?
Good Rolling.

The best bets are pass line with odds, come bets with odds, place bets on the 6 and/or 8 and buy of the 4 and/or 10 if the vig is paid on the win only. That is all. It is a very simple formula.
I know there are exceptional circumstances like when you rolled a whole lot of numbers and never hit the 6 or 8. Then there is the time you mentioned where you rolled 17 times without throwing a point number. But those are not the normal situations. They are rare and should not be the examples you cite upon which you want to establish your betting strategy. If you choose a betting strategy based on events that rarely occur, that is how often you will win with that strategy (rarely)!
GTC has analyzed this from many angles by many instructors including several mathematicians for many years. In my opinion they know what is best when it comes to betting strategy. But it is your money and I certainly respect your right to do with it as you choose. However, you asked the question and I am just trying to answer it with my best advice.

Obviously, a player with a $10,000 bankroll plays different than one with a $1,000 bankroll
I don’t make prop bets UNLESS (and this is it) when I have an even number as my 5th or 6th point, I will make a hardway bet on that number to coincide with my lay bet on the don’t. ONLY on fire bet tables do I do this.

I thought to myself did-en they listen in class or what .I thought it is going to be hard to change every thing that has been going on for 30 yrs. But since I really never was much into prop bet thought that it would not be to hard .
I now eat 2 meals when in casinos and for the most part am at the craps table unless my spot is not open .Will not play if spot not open. That is one change . Another change is I play one game on others .That is either one come bet or place bet till win twice then either press or make one more bet .Even with GTC players that I have played with .
I wish I could play once a week. Then would not play so long . Some times I think I stay on tables to long .I only play about every 3 or 4 mouths that is on real craps table .
I look at it like I try playing as few games as possible and still make money .Pass line one game any box number another game so on .Prop bet should be last game to play.
This is a journey that I will be on for some time I hope .
Thanks for ALL YOUR HELP IN THE PAST AND IN THE FUTURE .
Good Rolling . 🙂 🙂

I do use chips in practice. I set for the 7 on the comeout because my success in this area is that around 40% of the time I can roll a 7 and I hop them and then press conservatively. I have thrown 5 in a row numerous times and it amounts to a tidy sum in the casino. Some practices I have thrown a 7 nearly 60% of the comeouts. The 6 appears around 25% of the comeouts for me in practice and sometimes at the casino too. I’m not sure why.
I play music (not too loud) during my practice to simulate casino noise. The recording of all of my info keeps me finely in tune as to how I am doing
and even helps to detect flaws. Some I can correct on my own and some not. I also track if one or both dice come up very short of the back wall. Sometimes one just lands flat and sticks and I think that that increases the possible 7 to 1 in 4 if my toss is on axis. It does seem that I get a double pitch that way often.

Where and why you do and don’t make a wager.
The primers I brought to class have found that this teaching alone has increased their time and profits at the dice table. Hope to meet you in a class this year.

I want to reference your post by telling you this. I set for the 7’s and hop them on the comeout. Many times I hit as many comeout 7’s as 7 outs so that means 2 or 3 or more 7’s on the comeout and I press each one as I hit them. Two hits is not all that uncommon and I do make a little extra this way. My friend who does not follow GTC betting very closely has been $60 each on me when I hit the 5th 7 in a row. He comes down with $960 plus the other wins which gives him $1100+ Overall I hit a 7 about 40% of the time so every ten rolls I net about $34.
I also think this is a good way to see how my toss looks to start with.
