Recently Doc had a thread about the most unusual, embarrassing, or funniest moment you have had or witnessed in a casino and it was great. Maybe we could get the Advanced Students, Mentors, and Instructors to tell us about there greatest rolls. We all love to hear winning gambling story’s, it could really pump us refreshers up to hear about the great rolls, this is what we go to class for to emulate our teachers. I bet each of our mentors and instructors have a wonderful story about Mr. Bill Burton,. Share more about Mr. Burton and about your successes, we want to hear !

April 1975 my wife gives me a book on dice for my birthday. The winners guide to dice by John Savage.
I read the book several times and fly to Vegas. The book is about picking the right table at the
right time. I enter the Riviera and scope out the tables and after a while I get into one that is
doing like the book said. It is a 2 dollar table and double odds. I place the 6 and 8 for 6 dollars
each and 2 on the line and 4 back. Next to me is a high roller with 2 ten thousand dollar markers
on the table. A young women is rolling and hitting every number on the table. Soon the high roller
has paid off his 2 markers, and the woman is working him for a tip. He pays no attention to her
and she continues to roll. After 20 minutes of badgering him, he throws down a black and says
hard 8 for the shooter. Table limit is 2000.00 and he has 2000 on every number plus a 2000 dollar
come bet plus 2000 in odds. She does everything she can to get that hard 8 for another 20 minutes,
but makes it soft.
When she finally sevens out they stop the table for the high roller to rack his chips. Back then they
brought plastic racks and the players used them to carry all their chips to the cashier. He and the
security guard left and I did too. He cashed in 60000 plus some change.
My first brush with craps and that table is still the longest roll I have ever been in or seen. I made
enough money to fund my playing for many years. Now 38 years later I am still looking for a replay
of that magic moment when the seven went on vacation.

I was at Trump Plaza in AC when it was a pretty good casino with great craps tables. It was 1:30 in the morning and Miriam and I were going to go to bed for the evening. As I am walking by the craps pit I see my spot open at one of the tables, so I tell my wife I was going to throw the dice one more time and I would be right up to the room.
Needless to say I did not get up to the room for quite awhile. As I walked up to SL1 I say 3 guy’s who were dressed like mechanics push a cart up to the table with all kinds of equipment on it and when the dice came to me the Box said I was the last shooter at this table because they were going to replace the felt. Well I got the dice and my first toss was a 4 and I started throwing numbers using the hardway set. I can remember this hand vividly but I can’t remember what was going on around me. The table was 1/2 empty when I started and I noticed it was filling up. The only thing I really remember was that my chip rack was overflowing, I needed another space to put chips in. I just kept on throwing and throwing. Then all of a sudden the stickman say’s 7 Out, line away. Everyone started clapping and Steve who was the Box Man said Bob what a great roll, it was the best he had seen in years. I said what do you mean and he said your point was a 4 and you never made it, you started at 1:45 and it is now 3:30 and these guy’s (he was pointing at the maintenance men have been waiting to recover this table). I had one of my best hands ever and I could not tell anyone how it went, I was in a zone and just kept throwing number after number.
When I finally got up to the room my wife asked where I was and what took so long and all I said was "I had a good hand and made some money". She said good and go to bed.
But the best was the next morning, I got up around 8:00 AM and went to the craps pit on my way to breakfast. The table had the new felt on it and Steve was still the box man. His shift didn’t end for another 45 minutes. He said to me to please throw the dice he wanted to see another great hand like I did the night before. So I did, but I only threw the dice for 2 stickman changes before I 7’d out again.
This was a great hand and a great trip to AC.

We were up to maximum odds in no time while double dipping with place and buy bets as well. We also begin to increase our come bets so that we could have more odds as well. The dealers were going wild as we were making bets for the dealers—no one else at the table was making a dealer bet which is typical for a local type of casino. We had the dealers placed on all the number–especially the 6 and 8 as they were up to $18 and $24 respectively. She pounded out the 6 and 8’s like crazy.
Then the dice came to the old Doc. Rose asked if I could beat her roll. I naturally said yes, knowing that after a good roll like she had, the next roll may well be a short one, but it was not to be. I got the dice, the dice were looking pretty good, but I did have a couple of early come out 7’s after making a couple of points. Then it begin. We were heading to maximum odds on all numbers. Once I got there I asked if I could add to the base come bets on the 6 and 8 so I could add more odds and was told no—even thought I had done this "put bet" on the pass line. Go figure.
At this point we double dipped both the 6 and 8 for $30 with place bets and immediately hit both numbers. The dealers were yelling and screaming with excitement as once again we had the dealers on all the numbers. Finally the old 7 did appear and I "woke" up from being zoned out. Rose told me I had 72 rolls–my best ever.
We colored up with a comp to their little restaurant—basically a hamburger joint. As we left the dealers were begging us to come on back—they loved the dealer bets. After our meal we did make a very brief appearance at the table with some not so good results and lost back $100 each and headed to the door.
A great memory.
Must head to the golf course now but will give a story of how The Beautiful Alligator Rose got her GTC handle. It’s a fun story that I have told before but with so many new members it might be a good read for these new people.

That Saturday night I decided to go to a Caesars property to play and had a little bit of success. I ended up back at the Revel around 3:00 in the morning. As I walk past the craps tables, I notice an empty one so I walk right up to my position on SR1. My first roll was in the teens as was my second and third! My fourth roll was a beautiful 32 with some hard ways included! So my bankroll on this session has grown very nicely. I am a very good tipper and I am very friendly with the dealers. This is all the set up for my next roll.
Number FIVE!!! At this point the dealers know that I like a really quick game, so as I am getting paid on the number, the dice are already in front of me. I will not be able to remember the entire roll as I had lost count around 35, mostly because of the quickness of the game and my obscene amount of hard ways and big payouts. I start off with back to back points of six. Then I established a point of 10 which I never hit. But there were so many numbers thrown that I didn’t need the 10. But what stands out the most is two things. I had started with $50 on the 4. I hit it soft and went to $100 and put $10 on the hard 4. At that point I put $5 on the 4 for the dealer and $1 on the hard 4. Five or six numbers go buy and I hit a hard four and I go to $200 and $25. The dealers money is always on my control so I let them drop all their winnings and keep the initial bets up there. Several numbers later, I hit another hard 4. I go to $300 and $75 and the dealers asked if they could press their number, so they go to $10 and $5 and drop the rest. This time it took awhile but I eventually hit another hard 4. I am ecstatic as I just won $1125. I asked the dealers what they are planning on doing, and the stick man yells out "We are parlaying". So I said "What the hell" "Parlay my hard 4" and I went to $400 on my buy bet. Typically I would never have put $600 on the hard way and only have $400 on the flat bet but this was exciting. I had already passed the 30’s and lost count. I had a very nice amount of chips piling up and they were starting to use the prettier colors. The dealer on my side yells out as I set my hard way set, "Michael, throw a god damn hard 4". It completely threw me off as I released the dice. They were wobbly and totally off. I knew the 7 was about to show its ugly face. Especially when the first one landed on 2 and the other one started to spin. And to a complete surprise, the dice landed on a 2. One of my biggest payouts on one number ever at a whopping $5000 ($4200 + $800). I took back all the winnings and left the bets alone. A couple of numbers go by and a guy walks up to the other side of the table. First person I have seen in an hour. I set my dice in my hard way set and as i go to release the dice, the guy throws out a $20 bill and yells "Hop the seven’s". Both dice hit his hand and the 7 appears. It took all i had not to go kill him. The box man turned to the guy and yelled "NO BET". I colored up my chips and went to bed. The sad part was although I only bought in for $500 and cashed out $19,250, it was one of my biggest wins of all times, I was pissed off knowing that it could have been so much better.
So that is my great story. I have more but this is by far the best and worse combined. I hope you enjoy!

Billy the Kid and I were on a business trip in Tunica MS. We had to catch a flight out of Little Rock that early afternoon. We decided to go to a casino in Tunica that was just great and we loved to play on it. Well we weren’t doing so good and we were down to almost nothing in our rack.
We looked at our watch and it was late to make the plane if we didn’t leave just then, but we just couldn’t and it was Billy turn. We put it all on the table….maybe it was just a passline and a 6 was placed …. that is all we had left without going into our pocket.
Well I am sure you guessed already, Billy just threw and threw and threw and our rack was just filling and filling and filling! It was a MONSTER!!!!!!
We left and Billy said,"let me drive to Little Rock." I don’t know how fast he was going, but we made our flight!

We had been in Vegas for a couple of days winning some, losing some but ahead a few pictures of Bennie. Several of us decided to head to a well known upscale casino on the strip. We got there and our positions were open–both SL1and SL2 as well as SR1 and SR2. We had 2 right and 2 left handed players. There were about 6 of us on the table (It has been a long time and I forget the other player’s names) plus a few ploppies. The dice went around once with nothing to write home about. The players were Goldfinger and Rose at SR 1 and 2. Goldfinger’s son, Little Joe, and I were at SL1 and2. The dice came to Rose and she got hot. She was setting the hard way and the box numbers were coming up fast and furious. The dealer at her end of the table asked were she was from and she answered "from Texas." The dealer responded "then you must be the Yellow Rose of Texas. We will call you Rose. From this point forward every time she hit a box number everyone at that end of the table was yelling "Rose, Rose , Rose" on every throw. At SL we did not understand wat everyone at that end of the table was yelling about. But we were raking in the chips and decided to holler "Rose" as well .
As will eventually happen the seven did appear. We all agree to color up. Those at SL got filled in on what the "Rose" was all about. At this point I decided to make her name Rose on the GTC board. We took a short break and then decided to head downtown to the upscale casino at that location. Again we had 2 people in position at SL and SR. The dice went around several times and we down a few dollars. Again at SR2 Rose got the dice and was still hot banging our the numbers like all get out. The box idiot was a most unhappy fellow as he seemed to hate his job.
He begin yelling at her by saying things like "that crap doesn’t work," "come on set the dice quicker, "hit the back wall" (she was), "you paid way too much for the course" and anything else he could to distract her concentration. We were to find out later that Goldfinger was whispering in her hear over and over "don’t pay any attention to him, be an alligator." After we colored up–each of us for over $600, each which at the time was a big win, we were standing near the cashier and Rose asked Goldfinger "why were you telling me to be an Alligator." He responded that she should have a thick skin and not let the pit idiot bother her. AND the name Alligator Rose was born.
Two fun sessions with great people. It doesn’t get and better.
