Craps

Lost at the tables

Spread the love

I went to a crowded casino to play craps. I didn’t practice before going to the casino. Two big mistakes. I walked up to one of the tables and received my chips. I waited for the dice to come to me. Three other people sevened out fairly quickly prior to me receiving the dice.
Some man walks up the left of me and throws out $2,000.00 on all the hardways working and makes a passline bet of $500.00. It looked like the same man that won thousands of dollars on my good roll on my last trip to the casino. I didn’t even get a chance to get warmed up. I was planning on throwing a few sevens but my plans changed due to his bet. I didn’t want him to lose his money. I threw for a number. I hit a regular eight and he threw another $500.00 chip on hard eight. He backed his passline bet with $1000.00 in odds and went up on the numbers with alot of money. Hell, I just wanted to get warmed up. I went to a less crowded table just to get warmed up. I hit the regular eight on the next shot. Then, I sevened out and felt bad about this man lossing his money. He just asked the pitboss for some more money and he got it. I grabbed my chips and moved to another table. I started betting on other random shooters and lost my pants, underwear, socks, and my shoes. I moved to another table and I finally felt a little comfortable and in my zone. I hit 3 point numbers almost back to back and then one of the dice rolled and was stopped by a chip. Seven out. I waited for the dice again. I hit one point number and I felt comfortable and relaxed. I said to myself, I’ve lost alot of money and I need to make a big move. I put the little bit of money I had left up on table. The point number was a 10. I kept hitting 5 and 9 with no money on it. The casino was hot and I was sweating. I threw a good shot and one of the dice rolled and was stopped by a chip. The stickman says, Seven Out!. I was devastated and upset. I am making a rule for myself to never play in a over crowed casino ever again and if the air conditioner isn’t working, I’m not playing! 😳 😡 😮

You need to not worry about some thing that you can NOT control . Like the way other people BET .
Hang in there . Its a journey .
Good Rolling.

I guess you’re right. Sometimes I just feel like quieting. Disappointed and sad.

You can not worry about what other people are betting or how much they are betting. If some guy comes up, throws out $4 on all the hardways working and makes a passline bet of $5, would you be concerned about following your game plan of setting for the 7 to try and warm up? You should not change your game plan because some one throws out a big bet.

That $2,000 means as much to the guy who bet it as $4 does to the guy who only puts $1 on each of the hardways. Both are betting according to their means and you are not responsible nor should you worry about their bankroll. This game is hard enough without worrying about what other people are doing. Play your own game and do not pay attention to what others are doing.

I remember playing with my friends one time and they asked me if the don’t player on the other end of the table was bothering me. Apparently he was betting big on the don’t right in my target area. I never noticed what he was betting or how much he had on the line. I saw some chips near my landing zone so I moved my target slightly to the left and the chips never bothered me at all. In fact I focused more on my target because I did not want to hit the chips. It seems I cost him several thousand dollars because of what he was betting. I had no idea because I was busy playing my game.

Of course there are times I may notice what some one else is doing. But I could care less. I am there to do what I have to do for my game, my money and my bankroll. What they do is just white noise to me. I may see it but I let it wash over me and ignore it.

If other people are betting big, it is just different colored chips and has no meaning to you what so ever. Do not get chip envy, that is a sure fire plan for disaster.

Good point, Skinny. I must learn to play for myself. My wife sometimes tells me the same thing. She says, you toss the dice well when you’re relaxed and not worrying about everyone else. I need to stay focused on my game. I’m going to start video taping my tosses and really get this toss down to perfection on every shot.

Eagle Eye, I am sorry you learned this lesson the hard, expensive way. We do teach to play your own game, and not to worry about what other bettors are doing. Sometimes it is difficult to focus only on yourself, but that is what you must do to protect your own bankroll. That other player was playing his own game the way he wanted, and probably the way he always does. You should do the same. Now, forget about your losses on that day, focus on your future trips, and play your own game. You can’t change what happened, but you can learn from it, and thus profit from it for the future.

Thanks for the support. I need it after last night’s beat down. I guess the biggest part of the whole game is the mental part. Staying focused at the task at hand and remembering this my table. I know this sounds a little crazy coming from a novice craps shooter but my goal is to one day beat the world record of 154 rolls. (4 hours and 18 minutes and 25 passline wins)

Eagle Eye,
We would appreciate a heads up, when you feel that day coming.
Thank you in advance. Hang in there!!

BTW, been there done that. No, not the record breaker. 😉

Catch you later!

Wowman, I know I would have had a good roll if one dice wouldn’t have rolled towards that chip. The die actually stopped and was leaning partially on the chip and the other part on the table. I knew in my heart that I was going to have a good roll but it didn’t happen. I’m over it and time for me to move on. Watching the Saints football game. Hell, I’m just going to come back that much stronger next time I play. 😉
