Life on the Home Front

The art of losing continues

Spread the love

The beautiful Alligator Rose and I just returned from 4 nights (5 days) with the grandkids–girl age 12 and boy age 10. A good age to really interact with them. Wrestled with the boy a lot. He really likes a lot of action. The daughter was making purses with Rose and daughter and she is really learning the sewing skill.

Have never played so much Skip Bo, Monopoly, go fishing, War, etc. I am really good at knowing how to lose. Don’t misunderstand me, I make t a point to win some games as they do need to know how to lose gracefully. After every game, win or lose, we reach over the table shake hands and say to each other "Good Game." And the game begins again.

Like all of the young kids today, they are so bright and smart. The grandson was teaching both Rose and I some new apps on his mini IPad. So much fun. I am computer challenged, Rose is not, and he was even teaching her some things she was not familiar with.

All in all, grandkids are so much fun. As we enter the winter of our lives it is so much fun to see them in the Spring of life. Would not take anything for the time with them. I was born to be grandfather.

You are so right. The last 2 weekends were spend in deerstands with 2 to 3 kids. My youngest grandson shot a 7 point buck, holding the gun by himself. He is 5 years old, his 1st deer. My oldest grandson is 9 and he shot an 8 pt, his second buck. A 10 year old friend of the family shot his 1st buck a 3 pt. There was plenty of excitement at the deer lease.
