Game Day Adjustments

Spread the love

I am just back from a day trip to AC. The early morning session did not go well. For the most part the table was empty or near empty. My rolls were 3, 15, 10,9, 7,16. I was using the 3-V set which I had some success with over my last 4 outings. I just did not make it work this time. Lots of craps numbers that ate into any potential profit.
I had breakfast, switched hotels and late morning started session 2. There was another GTC student there who took the AC class last spring. He at SL1 and me at SL2. My and his first two rolls were horrible.
We decided that the third would be our last roll and then we would take a break.
Focus.
He threw in the 20’s. I was trying to analyze my previous throws. They seemed to be staying on axis, so I thought a switch to the hardway might help. Well it did . I threw 35.
We colored up and went to the casino club to relax, have a drink, and some light lunch.
We went back after that and took 3 throws each, but no results.
We left, went to another casino, found an empty table and each took 3 throws. First two were not terrible, but I double pitched into 5-2 outs both times. My buddy struggled with his last throw, but I managed a real good throw. This casino has the Small, Tall, All. I managed to hit the Tall (4 bucks) and missed the small and all (because I could not make the 3 or 4. But I did manage 3 points and was pounding the 8. Made a small profit for the day.
It was a lot of work for such a small profit, but here is what I learned:

Lesson 1: Sometimes you have to make Game Day adjustments. I think it was Einstein who said the definition of insanity is when you do the same thing and expect different results. I practice the hard way and 3-V, so why not make a change to the hard way. The 3-V was not working and the throw looked on axis. It worked !!
Lesson 2: 5 count all including GTC players. Including yourself (at least go light for the first 5 rolls) , especially when things are not doing well.

Lesson 3: Follow the 10 commandments of craps even if you think you have an edge. The commandments protect you from your own vanity. And will help you avoid insanity!!

Good luck to all in Vegas.

Good lessons, Game Day. This is why many of us stick to the hardway set, which gives better protection against the 7. Good luck going forward.

Game Day,

Another great post!

Nice reminders what to do when the results are not as good as we would like.

I keep trying the 3V and 2V , not good, always go back to the hardways set.

Hope to see you in AC soon at our favored places.

In regards to game day adjustments my issue seems similar to what you have mentioned but I look at it from tuning in my home trained throw to the particular table conditions. I think any of us that have worked to improve our outcomes have pretty good idea if it is the mechanics of our throw that is off if it is something mysterious going on which is associated with the table conditions.

It sound easy to classify tables a one of five or so kinds but the difficult part is determining what you have to do to your particular throw, all the adjustments so to get in synch with the table. I year ago I was blaming outcomes on my abilities to be consistent when I should have realized that I was not properly adjusting to table conditions.

I would appreciate any advise, recommendations, instructions as to how to improve my abilities to recognize and adjust to table conditions. Maybe a consideration for a GTC video?

The table conditions. Important to think about. I sometimes go to a particular place and the tables are usually bad. I see people set and not set and they all seem to do pretty bad on a regular basis. At least when I seem to go to this place. On this table, I have found hitting the back wall 2” away with a really soft shot tends to help me win sometimes. I really don’t think on a day when my shot is point on and I win at other casino’s and come to this place and not win much or at all. I really don’t believe they use properly weighted dice. They seem lighter when I’m throwing them. Needless to say, I don’t play there much. If I’m going to give my money away. I would rather give it to someone who may need it and not to the casino’s which are greedy. 😆
