More Downtown Resort Fees: reports in a recent blog post that the D and Golden Gate will be joining the ranks of the Plaze and the Golden Nugget on a growing list of downtown hotels to charge mandatory surcharges. While the Nugget dubs its new $5 nightly charge a "Downtown Destination Fee," the other three properties are calling a spade a spade, with a $20/day resort fee taking effect at both properties as of August 19. CEO Derek Stevens states that the resort fee, which covers high-speed Wi-Fi, $10 off tix to acts in the D Showroom (currently there are four shows performing), and free local and toll free phone calls.
