About the Top Ten
1. Room Rates – Four Queens et al. – – $29 and up
Room rates are #1 again this month. One of the best deals currently running is a $21 base rate at Excalibur that comes with a $20 food credit. Of course, the fly in the ointment is often the resort fee and tax, which in this case ups the rate to $40.32, but that’s still pretty sweet for a megaresort on the Strip. Speaking of resort fees, LVH is the latest to add one ($13), in what seems to be an unstoppable trend. But even with added fees, prices remain ultra-low. Search out the best deals using our room-and-show codes at LasVegasAdvisor.com.
2. Station Buffets – Station Casinos – All locations- Daily – $4.99-$13.99
When showing a Boarding Pass card, the Station Casinos’ buffets (#2) are priced at $4.99 for breakfast, $6.99 for lunch, and $7.99 for dinner or Sunday brunch at Palace and Texas Stations; $4.99, $7.99, and $9.99 at Boulder, Sunset, and Santa Fe Stations; and $6.99, $8.99, and $13.99 at Green Valley Ranch and Red Rock.
3. Shrimp Cocktail – Skyline- 24 hours – $1.49
The shrimp cocktail at Skyline (#3) is served at the main bar
4. Oysters – Caesars Palace PJ Clarkes – 2:45-6 pm – $1
The oyster happy hour at P.J. Clarke’s in the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace (#4) runs 2:45-6 pm.
5. Beer – Casino Royale- 24 hours – $1
While the $1 Michelobs are the sizzle in the drinking deal at Casino Royale, the prices for everything at the bar there are well below Strip levels.
6. Steak Dinner – Ellis Island- 24 hours – $7.99
Things have changed again with the steak special at Ellis Island, but you can still get it for $7.99, so it stays at #6 on the list. The meal is now $11.99 if you simply walk in and order it. Swipe your club card at a kiosk and you’ll get a $3 discount good for everyone at your table, dropping the price to $8.99. Play $1 on any machine and get a second coupon for one more dollar off to get to the $7.99 price. The second discount can be applied to any entrée in the Café or the BBQ.
7. Hammer/Bolan – Four Queens- Tues.-Fri. – $10
The Hammer/Bolan parlay (#7) combines both shows and takes into account using discounts available at the casino and a $10 matchplay coupon distributed at the Hammer show.
8. Hot Dog – South Point- Daily – 75¢
The hot dogs at South Point (#8) are sold from a cart in the sports book from 10 am until they close down the cart around 5 pm.
9. Mac King – Harrah’s- Tues.-Sat. – $9.95
You have to seek out the $9.95 tickets for the Mac King Comedy Magic Show at Harrah’s (#9); they’re usually available at either the players club booth or the concierge, or ask the box office where they’re being distributed.
10. All-You-Can-Eat Sushi – Sushi Mon – Daily – $21.95-$26.95
A first-timer and a rare non-casino selection comes in this month at the #10 spot. An awesome all-you-can-eat sushi deal at Sushi Mon tops any that we’ve previously tried, including the vaunted AYCE sushi plays in Reno. There are two Sushi Mon restaurants in Las Vegas, but they have different owners. This recommendation is for the east side restaurant at 9770 S. Maryland Pkwy.
